(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners participated in the 38th Fog Fest Parade in Pacifica City, San Francisco, on September 27, 2025. Congressman Sam Liccardo attended the parade said it was wonderful that practitioners were involved in this important community event. Pacifica City Council Member Mary Bier said the principles taught by Falun Gong—Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance—are extremely important to society.
Practitioners participated in the Fog Fest Parade in Pacifica on September 27, 2025.
The Fog Fest was created in 1986 to promote the City of Pacifica, attract visitors, celebrate the community, and raise funds for local community groups. The festival is held on the last weekend of September every year. The theme of this year’s parade was “waves of fun,” and the event was organized by Pacifica State Beach.
The parade began on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Spectators on both sides of the street applauded when they saw the Falun Gong contingent. Some waved and cheered and some followed along as the practitioners demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises.
As practitioners marched past the reviewing stand, the MC introduced the group: “Now approaching us is the group from Falun Gong. Falun Gong is based in the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. It is a practice that improves physical and mental health. Since it was first introduced, 100 million people have benefited from the practice. People of all age groups can practice Falun Gong. Everyone can learn it and it is taught at no cost.”
Congressman: I Hope Falun Gong Can Be Practiced Freely in China
Congressman Sam Liccardo said he is aware of the persecution of Falun Gong in China and hopes detained practitioners can regain their freedom.
Congressman Sam Liccardo attended the Fog Fest parade this year. “It is wonderful that Falun Gong practitioners are involved in this important community event,” he remarked.
He also said he is aware of the persecution in China and hopes practitioners there can be free: “I hope one day Falun Gong practitioners can gather freely in China, and practice their faith freely. I know the authoritarian regime is stopping them from exercising this right. I am glad they can celebrate this festival with us here. Thank you!”
Council Member Welcomes Falun Gong
Pacifica City Council Member Mary Bier said that Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are extremely important to society.
When Pacifica City Council Member Mary Bier learned that this was the third time that Falun Gong practitioners have taken part in the parade, she said, “That’s wonderful! We welcome your participation once again. Thank you!
“Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are absolutely important to society. What can be more important than this? People should have compassion, empathy, kindness, and tolerance. They should speak the truth, but such circumstances are rare nowadays. Therefore, Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are what we need to abide by. We need to take care of one another and treat each other with kindness.”
We Need Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance
Amy grew up in Pacifica but moved to the east part of the Bay Area. She came back to watch the parade and was delighted to see the Falun Gong group: “I love the Falun Gong practitioners in the parade. They make me feel peaceful.”
Amy said we need Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.
She added, “We need Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. There’s a lot of chaos in today’s world. I think people should enjoy freedom of belief.”
Foreign language teacher April Lireos from Mexico said this was the first time she’d seen Falun Gong practitioners. “I loved this group,” she remarked. “Everyone has a smile on their face, it makes me feel comfortable. Although we are from different countries, we should be kind. I teach my students to be kind as well.”

Dana Ford and her friend Pearson Comey also watched the parade. Ms. Ford said, “This group is amazing, I am proud of them. We should follow Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.”

Ms. Comey said, “I think we should have compassion and kindness, and be truthful. Only then will we feel at ease and peaceful inside.”
Danielle was delighted to see Falun Gong practitioners in the parade.
Local resident Danielle applauded practitioners as they marched past. She said, “This group is spectacular. Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are wonderful and inspiring.”
