(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) practitioners held a series of activities in Canberra on September 1-3, 2025. They condemned the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) transnational repression and called on the Australian Parliament to take action to stop the CCP’s infiltration and safeguard community safety and human rights.

Falun Dafa practitioners held an appeal in front of Parliament House on September 1, calling on legislators to take action to stop the CCP’s transnational repression.

Practitioners held banners next to the main roads in Canberra on September 2, 2025, to raise awareness of the CCP’s transnational repression.

On the morning of September 2, practitioners from across Australia displayed informational banners along the main roads leading to Parliament House in Australia’s capital, to expose the CCP’s transnational repression. Two of the banners read, “Persecuted in China, Repressed in Australia, Stand Up Against CCP Oppression” and “Help Protect Victims of CCP’s Transnational Repression.”

In recent years, the CCP has extended its persecution of Falun Gong overseas, particularly targeting the Shen Yun Performing Arts company, which promotes traditional Chinese culture. This transnational repression, carried out through infiltrated Western media, legal systems, and the Internet, aims to discredit Falun Dafa and Shen Yun Performing Arts, and cover up the CCP’s serious human rights violations such as forced organ harvesting.

The CCP’s attacks have recently escalated in scale, severity, and frequency, including increased bomb threats against Shen Yun performances, anonymous threats of physical violence or death, property damage, impersonation, and cyberattacks. This transnational repression violates the religious freedom and cultural rights of the Chinese people and directly challenges the sovereignty of democratic nations.

The Australian Falun Dafa Association revealed that some recent examples of the CCP’s transnational repression in Australia include Australian politicians being pressured by the Chinese Consulate in Perth to not attend Shen Yun performances; fake emails sent to politicians aimed at damaging the reputation of Falun Dafa; and an Australian mayor being intimidated by suspected CCP agents for expressing support for the Art of Zhen Shan Ren International Exhibition which was held in her city. After Ms. Pan, a Falun Gong practitioner from China in Sydney, was interviewed by The Epoch Times, her parents in China were threatened by CCP officials, who demanded that Ms. Pan retract her article or her parents would never see her again.

Senator: We Must Stand up and Condemn the CCP

Senator Malcolm Roberts accepted an interview with NTDTV and condemned the CCP’s transnational repression.

Senator Malcolm Roberts was interviewed by NTDTV.

“The CCP’s persecution is abhorrent. It should be stopped,” Senator Roberts said. “They’re persecuting Falun Gong, but they’re also persecuting any Chinese who speak up.”

He referred to media reports about suspected Chinese police in Australia, “When we have Chinese Communist Party police in this country, hurting Australian citizens who have Chinese descent, that’s inhuman, it’s abhorrent. We should be stopping that. We should be talking about it openly and honestly.”

He said that the CCP government in China is afraid of the people. That’s why the CCP persecutes Falun Gong.

“There is fear that the Chinese government is afraid of the people. That will limit China’s growth in the future, and economic prosperity in the future,” he added.

Senator Roberts pointed out that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. The CCP is the biggest threat to the world after the Nazis. He said both are anti-human regimes.

Senator Roberts also mentioned that the CCP has made Australia’s energy supply chain dependent on China through its acquisition of Australian power grid assets and green energy industries, posing risks to Australia’s economy and defense. He said, “We have to stand up and call them out.”

As a daily practitioner of the ancient Indian Vipassana meditation, Senator Roberts believes that Falun Gong is a wonderful practice suitable for anyone.

“The CCP is denying a basic right of people to meditate and do any practice they want, whether it’s faith or just physical. And that’s abhorrent, it should be stopped,” he said. “And I think what you’re doing is marvelous.”

On July 6, Senator Roberts posted on social media that he recently had the privilege of listening to the experiences of Australian Falun Dafa practitioners and discussing the CCP’s persecution of practitioners in Australia and globally. He stated that the CCP regime’s suppression of spiritual and mental cultivation highlights its inherent fragility and inhumanity.

He also included a link to a video introducing Falun Gong, and urged the public to learn about the practice.

City Councilor: The CCP’s Transnational Repression is a Disgrace

Cr Blair Barker, Whitehorse City Councilor, said that the CCP’s persecution and escalating transnational repression are a disgrace.

Cr Blair Barker, Whitehorse City Councilor, addressed a rally during an event in Melbourne in 2024.

“The Chinese Communist Party is a sad and miserable organization. They do not represent Chinese people,” said Mr. Barker. “They feel a need to disparage and interfere in democracies, and interfering the lives of private people is a disgrace. It is an absolute disgrace.

“They need to butt out and mind their own business. Stay out of our democracy,” he said. “We’re not interested in being controlled. We’re our own country.”

One of the main ways the CCP infiltrates is by using the media. Mr. Barker called on, “Western media to be, the media giants need to be vigilant, need to understand. We’ve seen plenty of interference in Australian politics. That sort of thing cannot be tolerated. It needs to be rooted out, needs to be called out, and needs to stop.”

He added, “The Chinese Communist Party is trying to influence and poison our media. So it builds distrust between us. It creates conflict within us. We’ve got to be alert to people that are trying to undermine our society, our community, and our democracy.”
