(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners in Spain held an event in Santiago de Compostela in northwest Spain on August 23 and 29, 2025, to raise awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution in China. They set up a booth at Praza do Toural in the city center, talked about Falun Dafa, and collected signatures on a petition that calls to end the persecution. The square is surrounded by 18th and 19th-century buildings and connects the city’s older and newer areas. It’s a popular gathering spot for locals, tourists, and pilgrims who walk the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James).
People were shocked when they read the display boards, which had information about the CCP’s brutal persecution. They talked to practitioners to learn more and read brochures. Many signed a petition to help end the persecution.

Santiago de Compostela is a focal point on the famous Camino de Santiago, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and thousands of pilgrims from around the world come to the city every year.
People Wish to Help End the Persecution
James from the U.K. was about to walk past the booth, but when a practitioner told him that Falun Dafa practitioners in China are brutally persecuted and even killed for their organs, and that his signature can help stop the persecution, he immediately said, “I absolutely must sign it. Although communism is rampant, the signature is very meaningful. It gives me a chance to clearly say “No” to it!”
Diego, a 23-year-old man from Italy, came to walk the Camino de Santiago and learned that practitioners in China are brutally tortured and unlawfully arrested because they follow Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and they practice Falun Dafa. He said that he also meditates, and he couldn’t understand why Falun Dafa is persecuted.

Diego signed the petition and said he hoped to do his part to stop the persecution. He asked to be shown how to do the exercises. After he did them, he said they were very good. He took some information about Falun Dafa and said he’d contact a local practice site when he returned home.
Resident Ms. Begoña attentively read the display boards. She asked whether she could take pictures of the boards to share with her family and friends, and where they could sign the petition. A practitioner answered her questions. When talking about the persecution, especially the unprecedented evil of harvesting organs from living practitioners, she repeatedly said, “This is too horrific!” She said that she’s always been concerned about human rights issues, and knew about some human rights violations in China, but didn’t know the persecution of Falun Dafa was so brutal.

“Everyone should have equal rights to practice their belief,” Ms. Begoña said. She thanked practitioners for being there so people could sign the petition and help stop the persecution. She said, “If everyone in today’s society has upright values and the courage to face evil, the persecution will collapse on its own.” She wished practitioners good luck and took some brochures so her friends could also learn about the persecution.
Learn Falun Dafa Exercises and Experience the Tremendous Energy
Cristina, who lives in Galicia, told a practitioner that she was very interested in qigong and Tai Chi, “But in the 1990s, no one in Spain taught qigong.” She confirmed with the practitioner that Falun Gong is Falun Dafa. During a trip to China eight years ago, she heard about Falun Gong from a practitioner that the CCP regime doesn’t allow the existence of spiritual faith. So when she saw the pictures on the display boards showing practitioners being brutally persecuted by the CCP, she immediately signed the petition to support their efforts to expose the persecution.

When she learned there was no charge to learn the exercises, she felt a greater need to understand its spiritual side. She purchased a copy of Zhuan Falun and learned the exercises from a practitioner on the spot, and said she felt a powerful energy when she did them. She said she would continue learning the exercises at a local practice site.
Wish to Soon See the Day When the Persecution Ends
Ms. Anjela, 57, lives nearby. After she saw the pictures of practitioners being brutally persecuted, she spoke to a practitioner with tears welling up in her eyes. She signed the petition and said, “Signing this means a lot. It’s for my children, for a better social environment for the next generation, as the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance should not be eroded by society.”

She said she knew about the CCP’s brutality because she watched a documentary on TV about how girls were killed during the Party’s one-child policy. But she didn’t know about the persecution of Falun Dafa. She admired practitioners’ courage in exposing the CCP regime and said she hopes practitioners soon see the day when the persecution ends.
Maria Luz, a 59-year-old local resident, talked with practitioners for a long time. She said that when she walked by, her first impression of Falun Dafa was that it is a practice in the Buddha school, and that practitioners were there for their faith. She decided to learn more.
Ms. Maria Luz said about the organ harvesting, “This is too evil and must stop.”
“I think that Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are the best principles,” she said. Regarding the persecution, “People practice their faiths, harm nobody, and do not do bad deeds. Yet, the CCP does not allow religious freedom, and even tortures and murders people, and harvests organs from living people. People cannot freely choose the spiritual faiths they want and make better choices for their children. This is a devastating blow to the Chinese people. This is too evil and must stop.”
