(Minghui.org) A woman in Qingdao City, Shandong Province, was sentenced to four years in 2025 for her faith in Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.

Ms. Song Yun, around 60, was arrested in November 2024. The Badaxia Police Station officers also raided her home. It is unclear when she was indicted, tried, or sentenced. She is currently serving time at the Shandong Province Women’s Prison.

This is not the first time that Ms. Song has been targeted for her faith. She previously served one unknown term of forced labor and two prison terms totaling seven years.

Tortured in Labor Camps

Ms. Song was arrested not long after the Chinese Communist Party launched a nationwide campaign against Falun Gong in July 1999. She was held at the Qingdao City Detention Center and tortured to the point of having difficulty walking. She was later given an unknown term of forced labor and transferred to the Shandong Province Women’s Labor Camp.

The labor camp guards subjected Ms. Song to long-time sleep deprivation, with her arms cuffed to the lower and upper bunks of two opposing beds at a 45 degree angle (see image below). She was unable to straighten her body at all. The guards also put a helmet on her head. One of them, Ding Haiying, punched her so badly that her nose bled. After long-time standing and sleep deprivation, she felt dizzy, and her ears rang. Her head and ears also experienced pulsing pain.

Three Years of Prison Sentence (2007 – 2010)

Ms. Song was arrested on October 19, 2007, by the Dengzhou Road Police Station officers. They took her to the Dashan Detention Center. She was later sentenced to three years and admitted to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison on July 10, 2008.

The guards at the strict management team instigated the inmates to beat Ms. Song because she held firm to her faith. Inmate Yao Jingjing pinched her breasts tightly for a long time, with over a dozen other inmates punching and kicking her. Inmate Zhu Huifen also grabbed her head and hit it on the ground. She was later forced to stand barefoot on the balcony. The inmates beat her when they deemed her standing posture unsatisfactory.

One day during a so-called “study session,” Ms. Song had her period and asked to return to her cell to fetch a pad. The inmates said no because she had not renounced Falun Gong. They forced her to stand. Her menstrual blood dripped to the floor. They blamed her for dirtying the floor and beat her savagely. Guard Xue Yanqin held a meeting later and forced her to admit to all inmates that she deserved beatings.

Ms. Song was moved to Division 7 in September 2008. She experienced uterine bleeding and spotted a sallow skin. The guards ordered her to have surgery to remove her uterus. She refused and was held in solitary confinement for three days.

Because of her frail health, Ms. Song was unable to do hard labor. Guard Deng Jixia instructed several inmates to carry her downstairs to the workshop. Her body bumped against the railings and was covered in bruises. Sometimes she could not even stand up due to her injuries. When she sat down to do the Falun Gong meditation in the workshop, Deng instructed inmates to drag her to the restroom to beat her.

Four Years of Prison Sentence (2018 – 2022)

After another arrest on January 9, 2018, Ms. Song was taken to the Qingdao City Detention Center the next day. She was later sentenced to four years and served time at the same Shandong Province Women’s Prison.

Ms. Song was held in a dark room at one point. Inmates Tang Weiwei and Zhang Yaoyun were instructed to beat her. She had injuries all over her body. They also yanked out a lot of her hair. Inmate Cui Dongjun monitored her around the clock and often laced her food with drugs, damaging her central nervous system. She became slow and developed some mental problems. She often trembled in fear.

Cui and another inmate named Lu Meng once put the drug in Ms. Song’s food again. They said, “You’ll behave once taking this drug.” Cui was heard telling murderer Zhou Hongman, “I didn’t think this drug would work. But now I see it’s really effective in [taming Ms. Song].”

Ms. Song was released on January 9, 2022, only to be arrested in 2024 and given a third prison term in 2025.
