(Minghui.org) Minghui.org previously reported that six Falun Gong practitioners in Tangshan City, Hebei Province, were arrested on October 28, 2025. New information has emerged that a seventh practitioner was also seized on the same day. All of them are now facing indictment for their faith.
Ms. Zhao Shuping (the newly reported case), her husband Mr. Xu Zhenguo, 67, Ms. Tang Guiyan, 65, Ms. Xiong Fengyan, 63, Ms. Xia Xiuhua, 84, and Ms. Yao Xiurong, 58, were talking to people about Falun Gong at the Niangniangzhuang Community Fair between 9 and 10 a.m. on October 28, when they were arrested by Chengguan Police Station officers.
While ransacking Ms. Xiong’s home, the police also arrested her husband, Mr. Wang Liwu, 65, who is also a Falun Gong practitioner. He and Ms. Xia were later released on bail.
Mr. Xu was taken to the Fengrun District Detention Center. Ms. Zhao, Ms. Xiong, Ms. Tang, and Ms. Yao were held at the Tangshan City First Detention Center. The five of them were issued formal arrest warrants by the Fengrun District Procuratorate on December 4, 2025.
In early January 2026, the Fengrun District Police Station submitted all seven practitioners’ cases to the Fengrun District Procuratorate, which then forwarded the cases to the Zunhua City Procuratorate, which was designated to handle Falun Gong cases in the region. Prosecutor Gao Yujie was assigned to be in charge.
Past Persecution
All seven practitioners were previously targeted for practicing Falun Gong.
Mr. Wang, an employee of CRRC Tangshan Co., Ltd. (a railway equipment manufacturing company), was held at his company’s security office for four days and fined 2,000 yuan in late July 1999. In November 2000, his company’s security director instructed several security officers to beat him, causing his eyes to become swollen and bruised. They then took him to the Tangshan City Brainwashing Center, where he was held for three months and had 3,000 yuan deducted from his pay. On February 7, 2003, the captain of the Fengrun District Domestic Security Office led people from the 610 Office at his company, and broke into his home. They held him at the Fengrun District Detention Center for over 40 days, during which time he was forced to do hard labor and later fined 5,000 yuan.
On December 18, 2013, he and his wife, Ms. Xiong, were both arrested at home by over ten officers from the Linyin Road Police Station. Ms. Xiong was held at the Fengrun District Lockup for ten days. A bit past 4 a.m. on June 18, 2020, Fengrun District Police Department officers knocked on the couple’s door. When there was no response, the police kicked the door and yelled. They attempted to pry open the door but failed. They then went outside the apartment building and stayed until 4 p.m.
Mr. Xu and his wife, Ms. Zhao, were arrested on April 5, 2024, while talking to people about Falun Gong at a fair. The arresting officers from the Liangjiadian Police Station detained them for 15 days.
Ms. Yao and her husband, Mr. Cui Fengzhi, both worked for the Tangshan Coke and Gas Plant. On March 9, 2001, the factory management restricted the couple at the company-affiliated hotel because of their faith. They managed to escape that night but were arrested by their company’s security officers on August 20, 2001, when they returned home. Mr. Cui was paraded on the street. He and his wife were later held at the local detention center and then the brainwashing center. They were tortured to the point of becoming ill. In July 2004, their company’s security officers surrounded their home for 4-5 days, during which time they screamed outside the couple’s door in the middle of the night. Mr. Cui was so traumatized that he passed away on October 16, 2004. Before that, he and his wife were both fired from their jobs at an unknown time.
On September 19, 2019, Ms. Yao was arrested while talking to people about Falun Gong at a fair. The arresting officers from the Duanming Road Police Station held her at the Fengrun District Lockup for four days. She and another practitioner, Ms. Jia Chunqin, were arrested on December 30, 2014, by Qishuzhuang Police Station officers. Both were released hours later.
Ms. Tang was arrested on March 20, 2011, while talking to people about Falun Gong at a fair. She was held at the Fengrun District Brainwashing Center for 15 days.
Ms. Xia was arrested on April 5, 2024, by Liangjiadian Police Station officers. She was released at an unknown time.
