(Minghui.org) Minghui.org recently learned that a man in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, was sentenced to two years for practicing Falun Gong around December 2025.
Mr. Jia Guanglin in his younger years
Mr. Jia Guanglin was arrested by Fengshuigou Police Station officers on September 18, 2025, for talking to people about Falun Gong. He was held in the Yuanbaoshan District Detention Center. The Yuanbaoshan District Court heard his case on November 25, 2025. Minghui.org confirmed on January 20, 2026, that he had been sentenced to two years. Other details about his sentencing aren’t clear.
Mr. Jia took up Falun Gong in 1996 and credits the ancient mind-body practice for helping him quit his decades-long addiction to drinking. His bronchitis and severe lung disease also disappeared. After the Chinese communist regime ordered the nationwide persecution in 1999, he remained firm to his faith and was repeatedly targeted.
First Prison Sentence of 3.5 Years
Mr. Jia was arrested at home on October 18, 2012. The police searched every corner of his home, including bathrooms, and confiscated over 10,000 yuan in cash and other valuables.
While held in the local detention center, Mr. Jia was subjected to various forms of abuse. When he was tried on January 16, 2013, he was emaciated and unable to stand on his own, yet the bailiff still kept him handcuffed and shackled. When the hearing ended the police said to him, “You have to wait to be sentenced.”
On March 10, 2013, the Yuanbaoshan District Court sentenced Mr. Jia to three and a half years but did not inform his family. When his family finally received his verdict months later, the window to appeal had long passed.
Mr. Jia served time at the Chifeng City Fourth Prison and was released on April 17, 2016.
More Arrests and Harassment
Four officers from the Jianchangying Police Station harassed Mr. Jia at home on June 15, 2017, and removed his Falun Gong-themed decoration. Mr. Jia tried to clarify the facts about Falun Gong to them, but they refused to listen.
Mr. Jia was arrested again on April 1, 2019. The police raided his home later that day and detained him for five days, charging him with “sabotaging railway construction.”
The social security bureau suspended Mr. Jia’s pension beginning in July 2020.
Mr. Jia was arrested another time on December 16, 2020, and taken to a brainwashing session located in the basement of “Xinshijia Hotel.” The brainwashing session was ordered by Wang Bing, secretary of Baoyuanshan Town Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and Liu Zhihui, the director of Yuanbaoshan Town 610 Office.
