(Minghui.org) I was often moved to tears while reading touching stories shared by fellow Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) practitioners about their experiences of seeing Master Li in the early years. I would like to share some of my own experiences.
While working at a bank in a small county in the summer of 1994, I heard that Master Li, the founder of Falun Gong, would teach the Fa on June 11 in Zhengzhou, Henan Province. I asked for leave to attend the lectures. As a bank vehicle was going that way, my younger brother and I had a ride to Henan.
By the time we arrived in Xinxiang, Henan, it was already midnight. The next morning, we took a train to Zhengzhou. I recited the book Falun Gong in my mind during the trip.
We signed up for the Falun Gong classes at the registration desk at the train station and paid 50 yuan for the ten-day lectures (returning students got a 50 percent discount). People from the county arranged accommodation for us, and everything went smoothly.
Master Always Considers Others
The microphone for the Fa lectures used a temporary power line, and on the first day, the connection wasn’t good, so the sound wasn’t always clear. However, it worked perfectly by the afternoon.
We later learned that, to ensure we could hear the lectures well, Master worked on the audio system during the lunch break instead of eating lunch.
Usually, such issues are handled by the local qigong association that organized the event, but Master didn’t want to bother anyone and quietly fixed the problem himself. In the afternoon, Master continued teaching the Fa as usual.
People from the local qigong association were deeply touched by Master’s selfless actions. On the last day of the lectures, a leader from the association told us emotionally, “Your Master didn’t have lunch or take any rest during the lunch break on the first day, and quietly did what we should have done all by himself, without telling anyone.”
Our Master always considers others and leads by example through his words and actions.
Master Taught a Self-cultivation Practice of High Virtue
Before each lecture, Master would take out a piece of paper with a few lines of text listing the topics he would teach that day.
What struck me most was when Master taught us to become good people who are selfless, always consider others, and cultivate our character (xinxing) by strictly following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
I was deeply touched by Master’s teachings, and all of a sudden, I seemed to have found answers to many of the questions I had about life and became more open-minded. I understood why a true Dafa practitioner should be able to bear bitterness and hardship and learned how to handle life’s difficulties.
These days, I often reflect upon my actions and encourage myself to be more diligent in Dafa cultivation.
I felt so fortunate to have attended Master’s Fa lectures, which are so precious and hard to obtain. I decided to follow Master and attend his lectures in Jinan, Shandong Province.
Our Character Improved as We Listened to the Fa
The location of the Fa lectures in Zhengzhou was an abandoned indoor sports facility with broken windows. I arrived early on the first day and sat in the front row. Some people from my hometown brought hotel blankets and sat on them, waiting for Master.
Soon, the area near the podium was packed with people, and from time to time, one could hear arguments break out over someone taking another person’s spot and so on.
As soon as Master walked out to the podium, everyone got quiet. At one point, Master told us to think of a place in our body that was ill, or, if we had no health issue, to think of a family member or relative’s illness. As I was quite healthy, I thought of my elder sister’s heart problem.
An amazing thing happened—my sister’s heart problem disappeared that day because Master cleansed her body.
On the second day, I arrived early again and waited quietly. As Master taught the Fa, our xinxing improved, people stopped bringing blankets from the hotel, and no one argued over seats anymore. Instead, people were polite to each other and gave the better seats to those who arrived late.
Before each lecture, Master would put items that practitioners had found that people had left behind the previous day on the podium and ask the owners to pick them up. There was money, gold and silver jewelry, and other items. Attendees were touched, feeling that Falun Gong truly creates a land of purity.
Today, Falun Dafa has spread to over 100 countries and regions, and has weathered storms and adversity for over three decades. Looking back on the precious journey I have been on, I feel extremely fortunate and, at the same time, deeply aware of the huge responsibility of being a Dafa practitioner.
I’m determined to do the three things well, follow Master’s Fa-rectification progress closely to fulfill my mission as a practitioner to save more sentient beings, and repay Master’s grace and salvation.
