(Minghui.org) Laozi, the ancient Chinese sage, once said, “The divine is impartial; it constantly sides with virtue.” I have found these words to be enlightening and applicable across different societies and eras.

I thought of this after hearing about the recent passing of S.4009, the “Falun Gong and Victims of Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act,” in the US Senate by unanimous consensus. Although it still requires collaboration between US House and Senate, plus the President’s signature, to become law, this is nonetheless a major breakthrough in the efforts to oppose the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

I want to thank the American people and elected officials for making the right choice to support innocent Falun Gong practitioners, who have been severely persecuted for 27 years for their faith. The forced organ harvesting, in particular, is an inhumane crime that we cannot tolerate.

A 20-Year-Long Open Secret

Twenty years ago, in 2006, Minghui.org first reported the atrocities of organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in Sujiatun, Liaoning Province, shocking the world. Media outlets demanded to go to China to investigate on-site, but the CCP delayed its response for an extended period. Eventually, after many days, the CCP finally agreed to permit international journalists to visit China for “investigation and interview.” By that time, the harvesting site had been thoroughly cleaned, and everyone the journalists met gave the same scripted story. As a result, the international journalists were unable to obtain any substantial information.

At that time, when Falun Gong practitioners revealed the truth about the CCP’s organ harvesting from living Falun Gong practitioners, many people found it hard to believe. The atrocity seemed too horrifying to accept, and most assumed the CCP wouldn’t commit such acts. While few doubted the credibility of Minghui.org, the idea of organ harvesting was too far-fetched in terms of morality. Notably, human rights lawyer David Matas and former Canadian Secretary of State David Kilgour, who led an independent investigation on this issue since 2006, referred to this as “an unprecedented evil on this planet.”

However, this unimaginable fact is indeed true. It started with death row inmates as early as the 1980s, but no one dared to expose it. After former CCP leader Jiang Zemin began to suppress Falun Gong in 1999, he also issued an order for organ harvesting. After publishing their investigation in 2006, Matas and Kilgour later published Bloody Harvest: Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China in 2009. In the book, they concluded that the CCP was systematically executing prisoners of conscience—primarily Falun Gong practitioners—to supply a highly lucrative commercial organ transplant industry.

Even after this sinister crime was exposed, the CCP did not stop. The regime continued because it stood to reap huge financial benefits from it. High-ranking CCP officials and their families also recognized the ease of transplanting healthy organs from Falun Gong practitioners, and thus secretly cultivated this underground criminal chain known to many in the industry.

Reportedly, when then Premier Wen Jiabao learned about organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners, he became furious and exclaimed, “Is this something a human being would do?” Nonetheless, no one from the government came out to condemn or stop it, and ordinary citizens were too fearful to speak out for Falun Gong practitioners and other victims.

When a Nation Becomes a Slaughterhouse

In a country of over a billion, the collective silence of both officials and citizens allowed this ruthless trade of killing to proliferate throughout the country. It even extended overseas, to profit immensely from the murder of healthy, innocent Falun Gong practitioners. To make matters worse, mounting evidence has shown the victims of organ harvesting have expanded from Falun Gong practitioners to ethnic minorities and dissidents, and eventually even ordinary citizens—including university, middle, and primary school students.

When a government fails to uphold justice, it is condoning evil and crime. One after another, many young people including university students, have disappeared across China. Faced with the loss of so many lives, parents were frantic with worry, yet the police refused to file cases. This inhumane judicial system, which treats life as worthless, became the evil driving force behind the surge in “missing persons.”

In 2022, Hu Xinyu, a high school student in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province, went missing in a fully enclosed boarding school. Despite the presence of numerous surveillance cameras, the police were unable to find any clues and ultimately failed to provide his family with a legal explanation.

In 2024, Luo Shuaiyu, an intern at Xiangya Second Hospital in Hunan Province, died under mysterious circumstances after falling from a building, after allegedly refusing to participate in sourcing organ donors aged three to six. He also left behind extensive whistle-blowing material.

In January 2026, Zhu, a 13-year-old student at Jinshi Qinghuayuan High School in Xincai of Henan Province, suddenly died on campus. Like many others, his death was linked to organ harvesting, but the case was ultimately left unsolved. Out of fear, parents of other students who had gone to work in other cities returned home to collect their children, transferring them to other schools, or accompanying them.

Subsequently, many junior high school students went missing, and the indelible terror has been deeply rooted in the hearts of ordinary people.

In an attempt to cover up the crime, the CCP quickly tried to establish the "legitimacy" of organ transplantation, and tried to secure more young, free organ donors. As a result, the regime has begun a campaign of “body and organ donation” in primary, middle, and high schools. In this way, school officials have forced minors to sign “voluntary organ donation” paperwork. This utterly insane behavior by the CCP has caused panic among countless parents.

Facing Choices

Here is a scene that often occurs in a police interrogation room. When a Falun Gong practitioner raises the topic of organ harvesting by the CCP, the police officer might respond, “Where is there live organ harvesting? Did they harvest your organs? That’s all nonsense. Don’t listen to other people’s lies.”

Twenty years have passed and Falun Gong practitioners have risked their lives exposing such facts to the public. It could be possible that some ordinary citizens may lack such information of organ harvesting, but it is unlikely a police officer is unaware of this. In fact, this is a large-scale, long-term operation, spanning from the highest levels to the lowest. And it is fully known throughout the public security, procuratorial, and judicial system.

The police officer may make this remark in an attempt to cover up the CCP’s crimes and deceive the public. But to some extent, although such a person did not participate in organ harvesting, he or she has nevertheless contributed to this state-sanctioned crime. So, what consequences will they face when the vicious CCP is weeded out in history?

There is a saying of “you reap what you sow.” In the eyes of the divine, we are all making a choice—to side with the crime, to ignore it—or step forward and condemn it out of conscience. If more people could play a part in safeguarding humanity, this atrocious crime would not last long.
