(Minghui.org) A woman and her son in Changchun City, Jilin Province, have been detained for nearly three months for their shared faith in Falun Gong. Her son-in-law, who was arrested together with them and doesn’t practice Falun Gong, has been sentenced to one year.

Three plainclothes officers broke into Ms. Zhao Jinfeng’s home around 2 p.m. on July 12, 2026. They searched her home without a warrant and arrested her and her son-in-law.

The police returned a few more times to Ms. Zhao’s home and confiscated almost everything, including toothbrushes, shoes, cell phones, a computer, a printer, an air conditioner, and several other appliances.

Officer Gao Boxin of the Rongguang Road Police Station interrogated Ms. Zhao’s two teenage granddaughters. The girls were terrified, but the police wouldn’t let them make a sound while they cried.

Ms. Zhao’s son, Mr. Sun Lizhi, was arrested around the same time at a different location. He was first given 13 days at a local lockup and then transferred to the Lishu Detention Center.

The authorities quickly sentenced Ms. Zhao’s son-in-law to one year in prison. Due to his cancer diagnosis, he was released on medical parole. However, the police continued to harass him, calling him every evening in an attempt to force him to provide false testimony that all confiscated items related to Falun Gong belonged to Ms. Zhao. The most recent harassment incident occurred in person at his home on September 18.

Both Ms. Zhao and her son, Mr. Sun, are still held at the detention centers.
