(Minghui.org) A woman in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, was sentenced to one year and ten months and fined 5,000 yuan because she practices Falun Gong, Minghui.org learned recently.
Ms. Zheng Yufang, also known as Zheng Lihui, was arrested at work on April 17, 2026. The police raided her home and confiscated all items related to Falun Gong. They said a residential security guard reported her for distributing Falun Gong materials on April 15. The guard took photos of her electric motorcycle’s license plate, and the police tracked her down based on the registration record.
Ms. Zheng’s family hired a lawyer for her. However, the Songshan District Police Department and the Songshan District Detention Center repeatedly denied the lawyer’s requests to visit her.
Three officers from the Songshan District Police Department, three from the Yulong Police Station, and an auxiliary officer surnamed Gao were assigned to work on the case. They submitted the case to the Songshan District Procuratorate in early May. Prosecutor Chen Hongguang indicted her at an unknown time.
Ms. Zheng appeared in the Songshan District Court on August 13, 2026. Only one of her family members was allowed to attend the trial. A court-appointed lawyer was instructed to enter a guilty plea for her. Judge Zhang Yu presided over the trial and judge Yin Lei assisted him. They sentenced Ms. Zheng to one year and ten months recently.
Ms. Zheng’s detention devastated her family. Her husband struggled to care for their child. Her elderly mother, who relied on her for care, experienced declining health and was hospitalized.
