(Minghui.org) A man in Xinji City, Hebei Province remains detained for his faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Mr. Guo Qinghua heard knocks on the door at around 11:30 a.m. on September 23, 2026. His wife opened the door to see four officers outside, who had entered their yard by scaling the couple’s fence from a neighbor’s home.
The four officers barged in and yelled, “Is Guo Qinghua home?” His wife asked where they were from, and they replied that they were with the Mazhuang Township Police Station. Without showing any IDs, they seized Mr. Guo and twisted his arms.
After taking Mr. Guo to their police station, the officers returned to his home to confiscate several paintings and a portrait of the founder of Falun Gong. Later that day he was handed over to the Datun Police Station in Hengshui City (also in Hebei Province and about 35 miles away from Xinji City).
The Datun Police Station was involved because they had arrested Mr. Guo back in April 2019 after he was reported for talking to people about Falun Gong in their jurisdiction. He was taken to the Shen County Detention Center in Hengshui City but was denied admission after the required physical exam showed he had dangerously high blood pressure.
Mr. Guo was released on bail but the police threatened to take him back into custody once his health improved. To avoid being arrested again, he lived away from home for the next seven years. He returned home recently when his wife needed help with the busy harvest season. A villager reported him to the Mazhuang Township Police Station, which then arrested him on September 23, 2026, and turned him over to the Datun Police Station.
Mr. Guo’s daughter and son-in-law received a call from the Datun Police Station on September 24, 2026. They went there as ordered and were told that Mr. Guo had been put in the Shen County Detention Center. His blood pressure was still high, but the higher-ups had instructed the detention center to keep him in custody to prevent him from being “a flight risk” again.
Days later Mr. Guo’s family was notified to deliver clothes to him and deposit money into his commissary account. They went to the detention center but were not allowed to see him. They asked about his health condition, and the receptionist said she didn’t know.
