(Minghui.org) A 63-year-old woman in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, has been disappeared by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) since early 2025 because of her faith in Falun Gong.

Ms. Guo Mingqing retired long ago from Ziyang Herbicide Company in Shaoyang City, Hunan Province. In early January 2025, her former employer called her numerous times, urging her to go to Shaoyang to process the paperwork to renew her retirement certificate. They also demanded that she return the retirement benefits issued to her during the three years she was in prison. For refusing to give up her faith, Ms. Guo had been repeatedly arrested over the years, resulting in three forced labor terms totaling four years and nine months and two prison terms totaling three years. (She completed her second prison term in December 2020).

Ms. Guo’s employer threatened to suspend her future pension if she refused to pay back the “pension debt.” She ignored them and made a living collecting and selling recycles. Her employer then threatened to put her in jail. When she still refused to travel to Shaoyang, they promised to give her some money if she made the trip. Her neighbor, who had been instructed by the police to monitor her for the past few years, urged her to take the offer.

Ms. Guo eventually went to Shaoyang, and her family has not heard from her since.

Someone approached her mother in late December 2025 and ordered the elderly woman to sign a piece of paper. The uninvited visitor did not let her read the paper. She refused to sign, and the man, along with the neighbor who monitored her daughter, grabbed her hand to write her name on the paper. She still has no idea what was written on it. She just knew it had something to do with her daughter.

Several groups of people later showed up at Ms. Guo’s mother’s home at different times to warn her not to disclose her daughter’s situation to anyone, not even Ms. Guo’s own son.

One other person who harassed Ms. Guo’s mother (and demanded to know if she had told anyone about her daughter’s arrest) returned the money that Ms. Guo had on her at the time of her arrest to her mother. That person, however, refused to reveal where Ms. Guo is being held. He added that no family member would be allowed to visit her.
