(Minghui.org) Since the beginning of 2026, the authorities in Shandong have escalated the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners across the province.
In Longkou City, at least 24 practitioners were harassed or arrested between January 8 and 26, 2026. Group arrests and harassment cases were also reported in ten other cities in the same province, including Liaocheng, Qingdao, Yantai, Weifang, Zibo, Jinan, Laizhou, Zouping, Zhucheng, and Pingyuan County.
In this report, we present additional cases in Laiyang City where the authorities also launched a new round of persecution targeting local practitioners. From January 7 to February 5, at least eight (including two married couples and an elderly man) were arrested, and three others were harassed. Below are the confirmed details.
Three Arrested on January 7
Mr. Liu Yixiu, Mr. Liu Yurong, and Ms. Liu Jin’e were arrested at their respective homes on January 7 by Muyudian Town Police Station officers.
The police spent over two hours raiding each practitioner’s home and confiscated their Falun Gong books, informational materials, and music players they used to do the Falun Gong exercises.
Ms. Liu was released at 8:30 a.m. on January 23. It is unclear whether the two male practitioners remain in detention.
One Arrested on January 15
Officers from the Bolinzhuang Town Police Station broke into the home of Mr. Sun Yong, in his 70s, on January 15. They confiscated over 30 Falun Gong books, a portrait of Falun Gong’s founder, and other valuables.
Mr. Sun was first taken to the Bolinzhuang Town Police Station and then to the Muyudian Town Police Station. He was released in the afternoon.
Four Arrested on February 2
Over ten officers from the Laiyang City Domestic Security Office and the Muyudian Town Police Station descended on a married couple’s home on February 2. Ms. Cheng Meiying refused to open the door, so the police pried open it. They handcuffed her and her husband, Mr. Du Weiguo, before searching everywhere in the house.
The police confiscated the couple’s Falun Gong books and cell phones, and took them to the Muyudian Town Police Station. The couple were ordered to sign statements to renounce Falun Gong.
Ms. Cheng was released on bail at 8:30 p.m., but Mr. Du was taken to the Laiyang City Lockup.
Another married couple was also arrested on February 2. Mr. An Libo and Ms. Liu Daihong were tending to their vendor business at a fair that day, when Ma Shuguang from the Laiyang City Domestic Security Office and a few other officers showed up. They ordered the couple to close their business for the day and took them to their home for a “visit.”
Mr. An said t whathe police were doing was illegal. They replied they were following orders from their superiors. They seized him and pushed him into the police car. He refused to hand over his house key, so they searched him and found it. They then tied him up and drove him to his house. His wife was put in another car and driven home, too.
Mr. An escaped while the police were raiding his home. They confiscated all of his Falun Gong books, cell phones, computer, and other valuables. His wife was released at 7 p.m. that day.
Three Harassed on February 5
Officers from the Fenggezhuang Town Police Station broke into Mr. Bai Aiwu’s home on February 5. They seized his printer and other belongings but did not arrest him. Two other practitioners in the same town were also harassed at home.
Several more practitioners were also known to have been harassed recently, but their names are under investigation and they weren’t included in the tally.
