(Minghui.org) Our Fa-study group read Essentials for Further Advancement in January 2026 and shared our understandings. We found many well-hidden attachments through these discussions. Some practitioners recounted their wrongdoings from many years ago and got rid of jealousy. Some uprooted their resentment against family members. I was happy to see the effectiveness of our Fa-study and our sincere experience sharing.
I started my cultivation in 1996 and have personally experienced the benefits of Falun Dafa. I have also validated the Fa courageously and handled things well at work and in my family life. However, reading the article “True Cultivation” again helped me discover more well-hidden attachments and I now feel purified.
For example, I had thought that I had eliminated my grievances against my mother-in-law, because she had passed away. Reflecting upon myself, I found that I still had some resentment. When my husband and I talked about our family, I mentioned things with the intention of showing how nicely I had treated his family members. Wasn’t this caused by my human notions? Cultivators should have compassion instead of focusing on “being nice.” On the other hand, holding grievances is the opposite of compassion and part of the Communist Party culture.
When our hands look clean, a simple wash will work, but if our hands are covered in mud, they will require a deeper wash. By the same token, getting rid of attachments requires deep cleansing. If I assume I have eliminated something, I might stop looking more deeply within. As I read the article “True Cultivation” again and again and recounted happenings in my family, I found that I had measured things according to degenerated moral standards. I thought I had been treated unfairly. My strong attachment to reputation had covered up my jealousy. However, selfishness could trigger these hidden attachments like the fuse on a bomb. As soon as I found one attachment, I dug deeper and found another. Attachments to fame, fortune, and sentiment are demons. I must get rid of them and refuse to be manipulated by them. What I want is diligence, and genuine, solid cultivation.
