(Minghui.org) Minghui.org previously reported that a 59-year-old woman in Tonghua City, Jilin Province, was admitted to a prison around December 2024, to serve a 3.5-year term for her faith in Falun Gong.
According to recent information Ms. Luo Xizhen was transferred to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison on December 9, 2024, but her family was not notified of her indictment, trial, or sentencing. They didn’t find out about her wrongful conviction until they received her prison admission notice and were asked to deposit money into her commissary account.
The prison authorities initially allowed Ms. Luo to call her family every month, but they have barred her from doing so in recent months because she refused to renounce Falun Gong.
The latest prison sentence of Ms. Luo, a home aide, stemmed from her arrest at her employer’s home on March 1, 2024. See the second related report for details of her arrest. An insider revealed that the Liuhe County Court tried Ms. Luo secretly at an unknown time. She appeared extremely weak and was unable to walk.
This is not the first time Ms. Luo has been targeted for her faith, which she took up in 1997 and credits for resolving her many ailments, including a kidney condition and gynecological diseases.
After the Chinese Communist Party started persecuting Falun Gong in July 1999, Ms. Luo was repeatedly arrested and detained. She was arrested at the end of 2002 and detained at the Ji’an City Detention Center for more than three months. She was given a two-year term at the Heizuizi Women’s Forced Labor Camp in March 2003. She was subjected to beatings, electric shock torture, forced labor and other abuses.
Ms. Luo was arrested again on April 3, 2007, and sentenced to three years by the Ji’an City Court in September 2007. She was given another three years and three months following an arrest on June 26, 2014, for distributing Falun Gong materials. She served time in the Jilin Province Women’s Prison.
