Falun Dafa practitioners have participated in the parade for more than 20 years. They were applauded throughout the parade route, and many people said they were impressed by their positive energy.
“This Is Our Future”
Mr. Ge stood on Sanford Avenue and said he was excited to see Falun Dafa practitioners. He warmly applauded them and wished them a happy Chinese New Year. “They are nice people and they represent true Chinese culture. From them, we see hope for our country and our people,” he said.
Noticing that the number of Dafa practitioners increased over the years, Mr. Ge said this was testimony that the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are powerful, “This is a new beginning. This is our future,” he explained.
Mr. Guo and Ms. Wu came from Guangdong Province over 40 years ago. Mr. Guo was a researcher at a university before he retired. The couple stood at the intersection of Sanford Avenue and Main Street, and said they often saw performances on television and social media channels hosted by practitioners. “This is the first time I’ve seen this in person, and it’s very impressive! Amazing!” he exclaimed. He said there were many practitioners in the parade, and their section was very neat. He could tell that the practitioners truly loved what they were doing.
“This works very well and it helps the community to know Falun Dafa as well as genuine Chinese culture,” Ms. Wu said. Her husband agreed, and added, “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is for all mankind.”
Coming from China three years ago, Ms. Li works for news media in New York. She said she’s seen Falun Dafa practitioners on NTD Television in the past, but seeing them in person, in the parade, was really moving. “There are so many practitioners and their presentation is great. I like this and I feel like Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance connects with everyone,” she explained.
Ms. Liu said that Falun Dafa practitioners are an inherent part of the community. “We like this formation and these performances. I also noticed there are Westerners in the parade,” she said.
She said some of her relatives practice Falun Dafa in China, and they had been severely suppressed for their belief. “That is why I think it is necessary for practitioners outside China to step forward and help more people in the free world learn about Falun Dafa,” she continued.
A Message of Kindness and Positivity
Flushing is a diverse community, and people from various ethnic backgrounds said they liked the Falun Dafa practitioners’ entry.
