(Minghui.org) I’ve distributed truth clarification brochures while I shop at the farmers’ market for a few years. December 28 was the last market day. Because I was busy before the Chinese New Year I didn’t get a chance to make any brochures until December 27. I made 20 copies of a newsletter and I included some truth-clarification articles.
It was chilly and windy that day. When my husband and I went to the farmer’s market I told him to wait for me while I distributed the newsletters, and afterward we would go shopping. I noticed a middle-aged man near the side door, and he seemed to be waiting for someone. I said, “May I share something good with you?” He said, “I don’t want it. I don’t read your stuff!” I knew he must have been influenced by the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) propaganda. I didn’t feel discouraged.
As I put a copy of the newsletter in a bicycle basket, an old man happily said, “It’s good. I enjoy reading those. I also believe in doing good deeds and building virtue just like the brochures say.” I said, “It’s nice of you! Falun Dafa protects good people. You will be blessed!” He looked healthy and in good spirits. I felt he must be healthy to come to the market by bike on such a cold and windy day.
I noticed a couple of men chatting in a red shuttle van. I opened the door and handed a newsletter to the older one. He took a quick look and said, “I don’t want it.” Pointing at the cover, I said, “I’m giving you a wish for safety in the New Year. Don’t you want it?” They both looked at me. I continued, “I just talked to another man who told me he believes what the brochures say about building virtue and doing good deeds. People no longer bully him.”
The younger man laughed and said, “He must have survived.” I replied, “He not only survived, he must be very healthy to be able to ride his bike and go shopping on such a cold day!”
The younger man said, “Your brochure must be good. I would like to read it.” After he took a copy, the older man also asked for one. They started reading right away.
Master taught us to treat people with compassion and patiently clarify the truth to those who don’t want to listen. However, I haven’t always done well. I felt embarrassed when the first man I talked to straightened refused to accept the brochures. I missed a chance to clarify the truth to him. It’s a pity. I felt encouraged when the second man gave me positive feedback. When the third man refused initially to take the newsletter I told him the story of the second man. The power of compassion made the difference. He accepted the newsletter and began reading it right away. It brought him hope.
Learning from my experience, we have to treat people with great compassion when we clarify the truth about Falun Dafa.
