Minghui.org recently confirmed that a 70-year-old woman in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, died in the summer of 2022 after enduring years of persecution for her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang Shufen was a retired factory worker. She used to suffer many severe ailments, including rheumatoid arthritis, which left her joints severely deformed; a heart disease; and gynecological disorders. She had trouble breathing and walking. Soon after she started to practice Falun Gong, she regained her health. After the Chinese Communist Party initiated the persecution of Falun Gong in July 1999, Ms. Wang remained firm in her faith and was repeatedly targeted.
In 2000, Ms. Wang was given a one-year term in Masanjia Forced Labor Camp, where she was brutally tortured.
Ms. Wang was arrested again on March 29, 2011, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. Baigu Police Station officers beat her, raided her home, and took her to the Jinzhou City Detention Center the next day. On April 30 that year, officers from the Baigu Police Station and Linghe Police Department took her to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp to serve an unknown term. She was denied admission due to a medical condition and then released.
Ms. Wang was arrested again on December 25, 2011, with another practitioner, Ms. Chen Yaxia, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong materials in Bajiazi Village. Officer Jin Hui from the Xijiao Police Station beat them when they refused to give their names and addresses. He threatened them: “I will beat you to death if you do not answer my questions today!”
Jin handcuffed Ms. Wang and hung her up by the handcuffs at the police station. He twisted her arms behind her back and punched her between the shoulders, which caused extreme, long-lasting pain in Ms. Wang’s arms.
Both women were taken to the Jinzhou City Lockup that evening. The police extorted an unknown amount of money from them before releasing them 15 days later.
Ms. Wang’s last arrest was on April 24, 2018. She was roughed up by the police and had vaginal bleeding as a result. She was held in the Jinzhou City Detention Center for 17 days and then released. Over the next four years, she suffered irregular vaginal bleeding and her health steadily declined. She died in the summer of 2022 at the age of 70.
