(Minghui.org) To media editors, independent media channels, and individual creators:

First, we would like to thank those working in the media and independent channels for the important roles they have played in telling people about Falun Dafa and upholding justice during the persecution in these years. At the same time, we have seen some media platforms and independent creators clearly deviate from industry norms regarding copyright.

To maintain the reputation, credibility, and authority of Minghui.org, and to safeguard the authenticity, seriousness, and ownership of our content, we are making the following announcement:

1. The Need to Cite Sources Properly

Each report and original article on Minghui.org comes from the courage and efforts of both its author and volunteers who work on the website. Falun Dafa practitioners in China risk their lives to provide firsthand information to Minghui.org, a website they trust. Driven by a sense of mission and responsibility, practitioners outside China who work on Minghui.org have toiled quietly for many years to bring the content to the public.

Those who republish content from Minghui.org should provide proper attributions and citations, not only out of respect for the original authors but also to help maintain Minghui.org’s credibility and support the dissemination of its information. All media outlets are expected to uphold this ethical standard.

2. Main Issues

The types of violations we have observed mainly include:

a. Concealing the source: Republishing news, data, or cases from Minghui.org without clearly indicating the source in the text.

b. Appropriation: Copying articles from Minghui.org (including titles, authors, and content) without clearly indicating “reprinted from Minghui.org” or “from Minghui.org” as per industry practice. This omission leads readers to mistakenly believe that the articles are original works of the platform on which they appear, thereby weakening Minghui.org’s reach and credibility.

c. Taking things out of context and causing brand confusion: Breaking up Minghui.org content into pieces, recasting them to fit the style and quality standards of personal products, or using the Minghui name to promote personal brands or products. This is not only disrespectful to the original source but also objectively damages Minghui.org’s image and public influence.

3. Requirements for Reprinting and Citing Minghui Content

Starting today, we ask all media platforms to strictly adhere to the following guidelines when reprinting or quoting content from Minghui.org:

State the source clearly: When reprinting the full text or quoting large sections, one must clearly indicate at the top or beginning of the article: “According to Minghui.org,” “Source: Minghui.org,” or “This article is reprinted from Minghui.org.”

Maintain content integrity: Reprints should preserve the content’s original meaning and should not arbitrarily alter titles or content to mislead readers or for the purpose of attracting clicks.

Strictly retain author attribution: The article’s original author attribution (including pseudonyms given to authors by the Minghui Editorial Board) should be retained. Before reprinting the entire article or a large portion of it, the original title and author from Minghui.org must be clearly indicated.

Provide the original link: When publishing on online platforms, we recommend including a link to the original Minghui.org article so that readers can verify the source.

Collaboration: Those with professional production skills who wish to collaborate in depth should reach out to the Minghui Editorial Board through our Contact Us page or the article submission page on the Chinese Minghui website.

4. Conclusion

Safeguarding Minghui.org and bringing the truth to the public is a sacred responsibility based on respect and integrity. We hope media outlets and individual creators will abide by these standards proactively. Together we can maintain a healthy, solemn environment for sharing information. We would also like to remind authors not to submit the same article to multiple media platforms simultaneously, out of respect for industry norms and the Minghui Editorial Board.

We reserve the right to pursue further action against those who deliberately violate copyright law, including the use of Minghui.org content for the benefit of personal brands.
