(Minghui.org) A 54-year-old woman in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, is set to stand trial on March 5, 2026, because she practices Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Song Xiaoli, who retired from Hengfeng Power Generation Company, was arrested on July 31, 2025, after more than ten officers from the Xizhaotong Police Station deceived her into opening the door by claiming to be “property management personnel.” They confiscated her laptop, printer, Falun Gong informational materials, and other valuables.
The police targeted Ms. Song after they received a tip that she talked to people about Falun Gong. They followed her for some time before they arrested her. They discovered that she visited another local Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Bu Xuewen, who was recovering from a medical condition.
The police put Ms. Song in the Shijiazhuang City Second Detention Center on August 1, 2025, and arrested Mr. Bu that afternoon. A few other practitioners who visited him were also taken into custody. Mr. Bu’s wife went to the Xizhaotong Police Station and showed the officers his hospital exam results. Only then did they release Mr. Bu. His guests were released the next day (August 2).
Prosecutor Li Xiuli (+86-311-85187800) from the Chang’an District Procuratorate issued a formal arrest warrant for Ms. Song on August 16, 2025, and forwarded the case to the Qiaoxi District Procuratorate.
Ms. Song was indicted at an unknown time, and her case now rests with the Qiaoxi District Court. Judge Zheng Lijun (+86-311-83867051) will preside over her trial which is scheduled for March 5, 2026.
Past Persecution
Ms. Song was sickly since she was young, and suffered from tonsillitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia. After she grew up, she had stomach problems, rhinitis, and tension headaches. No medical treatments helped.
Her mother took up Falun Gong in 1997 and soon recovered from arthritis, pharyngitis, and gynecological diseases. Ms. Song was amazed and joined her mother in October 1998. All her symptoms disappeared in just a few months. She also became a more conscientious worker and was well-regarded by her supervisor and coworkers. After she retired, her good health enabled her to take care of her elderly father full-time.
After the persecution began in July 1999, Ms. Song went to Beijing to appeal for her right to practice Falun Gong. As soon as she got off a bus, she was arrested and later escorted back to Shijiazhuang. Her employer held her in an office for one day before allowing her to go home. After that, they frequently harassed her and ordered her to renounce her faith and promise not to appeal in Beijing again.
Ms. Song filed a criminal complaint in June 2015 against former Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin for launching the persecution of Falun Gong without any legal basis. The local government and street committee, as well as her employer, kept harassing her after finding out about the complaint.
