(Minghui.org) The Yilan County Court in Heilongjiang Province sentenced a local woman to three years and ten months with a 50,000-yuan fine on March 11, 2026, for her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Chen Jihuan was arrested on August 12, 2025, by the Dongcheng Police Station. She was released the next day, but found herself shadowed by someone days later. The police raided her home and took her back into custody on August 18. She was put under criminal detention at the Harbin City Detention Center. Harbin oversees Yilan County.
The details of Ms. Chen’s prosecution remain unknown. It is also unclear whether she has been admitted to prison following her conviction on March 11, 2026.
Past Persecution
Ms. Chen lost her parents when she was 12 and was raised by her older brother Mr. Chen Jizhong. She suffered from a severe heart condition and also had an operation on her left hip joint. She was unable to walk very far or do heavy work. In the spring of 1998, she began to practice Falun Gong and soon regained her health. Her brother also took up the practice.
After the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution in 1999, both siblings were repeatedly arrested and detained for upholding their faith. While Mr. Chen was serving a six-year prison term, his beloved wife of 30 years froze to death in a rice paddy in 2012 after a sudden seizure.
Prior to her latest prison sentence, Ms. Chen had served a three-year forced labor term (December 2001 – December 2004) and a four-year prison term (November 2009 – November 2013). She suffered brutal torture during her incarceration. See the related reports for her and her brother’s persecution.
