(Minghui.org) A 68-year-old woman was recently admitted to prison to serve a 2.5-year term because she practices Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wu Shulan, of Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested on July 30, 2025. Seven police officers raided her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books and informational materials. The police revealed that they had been monitoring her daily activities for nearly a year before they arrested her.
The Ranghulu District Court tried Ms. Wu in mid-December 2025, but did not notify her family. Her loved ones found out about it when the court informed them of her verdict.
Ms. Wu was transferred to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison in late March 2026. Her incapacitated husband struggles to live on his own.
