(Minghui.org) Eight Dashiqiao City, Liaoning Province residents were recently indicted for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999. One of their family members who does not practice Falun Gong was also indicted.
The nine of them were arrested on November 25, 2025, by over twenty officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Dashiqiao City Police Department participated in the group arrests. According to insiders, the police monitored the Falun Gong practitioners and tapped their phones for more than six months before they were arrested.
Mr. Zhang Yuzhen, 71, and his wife, Ms. Gong Suyan, 72, were arrested at home, together with their guest, Ms. Li Xiuying. The couple’s son, Mr. Zhang Bo, who does not practice Falun Gong, was also taken into custody. The police raided the couple’s home and an older residence on the property. It is unclear what personal belongings were confiscated.
Also arrested on the same day were Mr. Yang Qiang and his wife, Ms. Xing Chun’e, Mr. Wang Zhaomin, Ms. Xing Dongmei, and Mr. Wang Jun.
The five male residents were taken to the Dashiqiao City Detention Center, and the four women were taken to the Yingkou City Detention Center. Yingkou City oversees Dashiqiao City.
The Zhanqian District Procuratorate in Yingkou City issued formal arrest warrants for the nine residents in late December 2025 and indicted them around early March 2026. Their families hired a total of four lawyers to represent them. Despite the lawyers’ request to drop the indictment, the procuratorate forwarded the case to the Zhanqian District Court.
