Dr. Nantasha Williams, Deputy Speaker for the New York City Council, saw Shen Yun in New York City on April 12. She presented a proclamation to the company, congratulating Shen Yun on their 20th anniversary.
“The show was amazing,” said Council Member Williams. “And what’s so amazing about the show is that it’s based and founded in New York City, and this is like one of the main places to really have freedom of expression. It was such a beautiful show.
“First of all, the technique was amazing and really chronological, the 5,000 years of China in just these two hours. I don’t know how you guys did it, but you did a great job.
“I’m a fan of tradition, and the traditional dances that I saw were actually my favorite. So I love the men’s classical dance, and so I totally think that is a great thing to do. We must remember our traditions.
“I think what the cultural performance can teach us in today’s society is really about freedom of expression and freedom to practice what you want, and about humanity. There were a lot of references to us being divine beings and making sure to essentially love and care for one another.
“They’ve been here for 20 years. Clearly, you guys are a friend of New York City,” Dr. Williams said.
Canadian Member of Parliament Honors Shen Yun’s Work

Marc Dalton, Member of Parliament for Pitt Meadows—Maple Ridge, and his wife, Marlene, saw Shen Yun in Vancouver on April 10.
Mr. Dalton brought with him a proclamation honoring Shen Yun’s 20th year of successful performances. The proclamation states: “Shen Yun is an artistic and cultural treasure that uplifts audiences with some of the best of universal values shared by Canadians, such as compassion, courage, loyalty, freedom, and respect.”
The performance “was better than I thought it would be, and I expected it to be good,” Mr. Dalton said at the end of the evening. “It was quite a variety of dances, stories. It was entertaining.
“It made me think [about] the importance of [people] being able to express their faith and being able to practice that in society, whether it’s in Canada, whether it’s elsewhere—I think that is important.”
Mr. Dalton said the performance is “very beautiful, but it’s obvious there’s pain there too. There’s a couple of the different pieces with [persecution] involved, so that’s very sobering. That hits me as a politician, too, because I’m aware of this. I’ve spoken about it in Parliament.”
Reflecting on the pieces that show the Chinese regime’s suppression, Mr. Dalton said, “It’s very unfortunate, because [Chinese culture] is beautiful. I’ve been to China. I’ve travelled around the different cities, and it’s a beautiful place, but I am concerned about the state control of the people. We need to stand up for democracy... for people across the world.”
Mr. Dalton praised Shen Yun for using dance and music as, “a very powerful tool,” to help revive traditional culture.
“It is quite beautiful,” Mr. Dalton said. “The dances, the sounds—they’re floating in the sky and the integration with the dance and [digital backdrop] and the costumes and everything—it was great.”

Colorado State Senator, Iman Jodeh, saw Shen Yun in Denver on April 12. She presented a tribute to the company on behalf of the Senate of the Colorado Legislature.
“What we’re bringing today is a tribute to Shen Yun and the cultural diversity that it brings to Colorado. [We’re] honoring Chinese culture through dance and story, and we wanted to make sure that we are fostering that diversity for the people of Colorado,” Ms. Jodeh said.
“I’m super honored to be asked to present this on behalf of the 75th General Assembly and the Senate. We recognize the value and the richness that this [has brought] for the past 20 years, and we want to make sure that we continue to be a welcoming state for this cultural diversity—Shen Yun,” Senator Jodeh said.
“I think some of the more beautiful moments were when there was humanity. When people in need found that help from people who could give. It was absolutely beautiful and captivating. I thought it was a wonderful way to expose Chinese culture and history to Colorado and really allow us to enjoy the history of Chinese culture,” Ms. Jodeh said.
She also felt that Shen Yun was a reminder of the value of hope. “I think it was very palpable and I think it was very relevant in the times that we’re living to really hang on to that hope and that humanity and really make sure that that’s what we’re centering [on]. We are trying to remind ourselves as a human race that we have a shared humanity and that hope is what should be bringing us together.”

Argentine National Deputy Miriam Niveyro saw Shen Yun in Buenos Aires on April 11.
“Honestly, the performance is very moving. It reaffirms and highlights the values of human beings—let’s say the good side of humanity—and it encourages us to continue working for those values of faith. May God grant us freedom above all,” Ms. Niveyro said.
“The performance is truly very beautiful and deeply moving—especially meaningful in the times we are living in,” she added.
“The persecution—particularly in China, but also in other places—of people who hold these values is what moved me the most,” Ms. Niveyro said. “Sometimes goodness is persecuted by human selfishness, or for reasons we may not fully understand—and that is what struck me the most.”
As a person of faith, Ms. Niveyro said she felt a spiritual connection during the performance. “Of course—I am a believer, and I truly felt connected with many aspects of the performance. It is very good and very beautiful, and something I would highly recommend,” she said.
Reflecting on Shen Yun’s mission to revive traditional values, Ms. Niveyro expressed a sense of relevance to her own country. “In Argentina, at this moment in our history, we are working hard to reaffirm and revalue these principles,” she said. “Not only religious values, but also the values that define us as human beings—altruism, kindness, sharing, generosity toward others, and above all, freedom. So truly, it is very beautiful.”
She was impressed by Shen Yun’s artistic excellence. “First of all, the dance technique is spectacular—truly exquisite. At times, it feels as though they are floating in the air rather than standing on the ground. I sincerely congratulate them.
“This reflects the tremendous effort behind the performance—from the director to the staging and everything involved. It is majestic. I sincerely congratulate them and thank them for being here in Argentina. For us, it is an honor to have them performing in a theater on Corrientes Avenue.”
Ms. Niveyro highly recommends Shen Yun to anyone who has not had the chance to see it yet: “I would tell them not to miss it, because it is rare to see a performance that elevates the human being to such a level. I believe that those who truly believe in God and are committed to upholding human values should come and see it.”
“You Absolutely Have to Come”
National Deputy Alejandro Fargosi (Screenshot courtesy of NTD)
Argentine National Deputy Alejandro Fargosi saw Shen Yun in Buenos Aires on April 9.
Calling the performance “incredible,” Mr. Fargosi highlighted the performers’ “perfect coordination” as well as their “immense love for their own culture.”
“What stands out is a dedication to upholding values that are not only traditional but also vital. And preserving them in such a dedicated way, as Shen Yun does, clearly shows a deep love for them,” he said.
Mr. Fargosi remarked that Shen Yun’s mission of reviving 5,000 years of China’s heritage is an enormous undertaking.
“It is difficult to do so when dealing with a cultural phenomenon as profound as the one we are discussing,” said Mr. Fargosi. “For us—a people as young as Argentina—it feels almost foreign: a millennia-old process, a culture of life, a way of life—the very way of life that Falun Dafa so intensely upholds.
“In a way, I can perceive its depth. But from the visual and aesthetic side, it is something wonderful—truly wonderful.
“If there is one thing to do, it is to go see it—it is truly unmissable. You absolutely have to come—there is no debate, it’s a marvel,” Mr. Fargosi emphasized.
Mr. Fargosi reflected on a scene depicting the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party. In this dance story, a young practitioner loses his eyesight due to the regime’s horrific practice of harvesting organs, including corneas. Mr. Fargosi said the scene clearly illustrates the struggle between the Chinese regime’s control, and spiritual resistance.
“When they portray the phenomenon of attempted domination—which is still ongoing—the attempt at domination by communist totalitarianism that still governs China today, what is missing there is freedom,” he said. “And this is clearly shown in the scene of persecution, imprisonment, and the blinding of the protagonist.”
Mr. Fargosi shared his thoughts on the symbolic meaning of blindness in the depiction.
“The blinding may go unnoticed, but it represents the attempt to prevent him from seeing the truth, reality, and the transcendent values being defended—something he ultimately overcomes through spiritual strength.”
Mr. Fargosi again urged wider audiences to experience Shen Yun. “It’s absolutely unique! I would tell people: come without hesitation—it is a marvel!”
“A World-class International Performance Suitable for Any Global Stage”
National Deputy Gabriela Flores (Screenshot courtesy of NTD)
National Deputy Gabriela Flores saw Shen Yun in Buenos Aires on April 9.
In honor of Shen Yun’s 20th anniversary, Ms. Flores offered words of encouragement to the company’s Artistic Director.
She said she believes that “the final chapter of this work—which I can’t spoil—will one day become a reality.” The final piece of the performance depicts the Creator’s salvation during times of peril, offering hope that goodness will prevail and humanity will be restored.
“He should not give up; he should keep going,” she added. “We will stand behind what he is doing, which is communicating with us and telling everyone what China is.”
Ms. Flores said the performance’s deeper message resonated with her. “I really liked how it captures the essence of the Chinese people, which is the same essence shared by all human beings. That is what connects all countries,” she said. “It’s so similar, isn’t it? In every country. We human beings are one.
“The show surprised me from a visual standpoint,” she continued. “I had seen other Chinese opera and ballet performances before, but this one takes you through Chinese history and its cultural development.
“I really liked how it touches on the spiritual aspect, because it is very broad,” Ms. Flores said. “Although we move through different stages—from 5,000 years ago to the present—the idea of faith and values does not change. The context and setting may change, but people continue to hold on to the same values. That is what gives a culture its identity.”
Ms. Flores spoke about the portrayal of people of faith upholding their beliefs in the face of adversity. “I was moved to see how China preserves its values and culture, regardless of the political context,” she said. “I found that especially meaningful, and I think it applies to everyone. No matter what political circumstances a society may face, we see here how a culture—its symbols and traditions—can endure for thousands of years, just like religious values.”
She also affirmed Shen Yun’s global stature. “I believe Shen Yun is a world-class international performance suitable for any global stage,” she said. “Any stage would be honored to host a show like this—it brings brilliance both to the audience and to the theater itself. I think it is something truly fabulous.
“I would recommend that everyone come see it—this is a show that presents China through the lens of its culture,” Ms. Flores concluded.
“I Found It Incredibly Fantastic”
Juan José Esper, Buenos Aires Provincial Representative (Screenshot courtesy of NTD)
Buenos Aires Provincial Representative Juan José Esper saw Shen Yun in Buenos Aires on April 9.
“I thought it was wonderful. Chinese culture is ancient—it’s marvelous, it’s perfection, it’s balance,” Mr. Esper said. “I’m very happy to have had such a beautiful experience.”
As Shen Yun celebrates its 20th anniversary, Mr. Esper offered his respect to the company’s Artistic Director and his appreciation to the artists. “I think you’re making a tremendous effort to bring this culture and philosophy to every corner of the world. I thank you for choosing Argentina as well.
“There are few people who have the opportunity, through their daily work, to leave a lasting impact on others. That must be very rewarding,” he continued. “I understand the effort required to carry out this project, but it is very important for every single person who has the chance to experience this.”
Mr. Esper said the element that moved him most was the richness of traditional Chinese culture. “What I liked most was seeing that such a rich culture exists on the other side of the world, with its music, spirituality, dance, and art.”
He added that the spiritual dimension of the performance resonated with him. “I find daily life in connection with spirituality to be truly wonderful. It is something we in the West have gradually lost over the years. In the East, especially in certain places, the spiritual and the earthly coexist constantly.
“I believe this is something we once had and should seek to emulate, because it is the only way to live together in a healthy society and to be spiritually in harmony with ourselves and our faith.”
Mr. Esper emphasized Shen Yun’s significance beyond performance. “This is not merely a work of art or a form of physical expression—it has a very profound meaning,” he said.
“The advancement of technology, modernity, and now artificial intelligence are putting our entire value system into crisis—the very system that connects us as human beings. I believe that revaluing our connection with the spiritual realm is the only way to achieve peaceful coexistence, to find harmony in our relationships, and to recognize that others possess the same dignity as we do.”
Mr. Esper said he would definitely recommend the performance. “I found it incredibly fantastic, and I hope many more people will have the opportunity to experience it. Something stays with each of us—and that is incredible.”
German Mayor: “A Level of Perfection that Is Rarely Seen Anywhere”

Mayor of Sigmarszell Jörg Agthe saw Shen Yun in Füssen on April 11.
“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to experience such a wonderful performance,” said Mr. Agthe. “The performance was fantastic—it is like immersing yourself in a sea of colors, an experience for all the senses.
“You experience wonderful music and a truly delicate performance, with a level of perfection that is rarely seen anywhere. From the first to the last moment, I was constantly filled with new impressions—it is something truly unique. It is a wonderful experience, not comparable to any film recording; something like this exists only in reality. The stage backdrop is very beautiful, and in a wonderful way it combines reality with this fantastic setting, which is closely modeled on historical China.”
Mr. Agthe also appreciated the tenor’s bel canto performance and the message he conveyed. “It was really wonderful and also carried a message that has a lasting effect.”
Mr. Agthe shared his understanding of the lyrics of the song. “I would say that, ultimately, we should not forget traditional values or cast them aside, because they are what we have experienced and what we are.
“We learn this from history, and our history and our traditions shape us—they are what we are rooted in. Cutting off the roots, for a tree or any plant, means the end—and it would be the same for humanity. That is why it is always important to know where we come from and where we are going in life,” he continued.
Mr. Agthe also reflected on the broader themes presented in the performance. “I believe the message conveyed here is that nature is something very special, that we should not forget tradition, and that the unity between humanity and nature is important. It also takes into account human coexistence, and perhaps conveys the message that a peaceful political culture is always beneficial.
“I would truly recommend that others go and see such a performance. It is an enrichment for all the senses—for perception, acoustically and visually, and also for inner feeling,” Mr. Agthe concluded. “At times, you even get goosebumps, and you also take away a message from the experience—something that combines education and enjoyment.”
French Pharmaceutical Scientist: “Truly at a Very High Level”
Shen Yun World Company presented its sixth performance at L’Amphithéâtre 3000 in Lyon, France, on the afternoon of April 11.
Pharmaceutical scientist Jordan Bouilloux (Screenshot courtesy of NTD)
Jordan Bouilloux, a pharmaceutical scientist at the National Agency for Medicines and Health Products Safety, saw Shen Yun in Lyon on the evening of April 11.
Mr. Bouilloux said Shen Yun introduced him to “a performance that goes beyond the realm of ballet and classical European dance. The same goes for the musical instruments, with scenes that tell stories that we Europeans aren’t necessarily familiar with: it’s truly very impressive, very evocative—it’s truly a beautiful show.
“Flipping through the program, you realize that some artists have been part of the show from the very beginning, while others have just joined. To be perfectly honest, I can’t really tell who’s newer or not, because they’re all truly at a very high level—they’re all in perfect harmony.
“It’s truly a beautiful show that I’d recommend to as many people as possible—provided you can get tickets, since the house was packed tonight,” he added.
Mr. Bouilloux said he went through a whole range of emotions while watching Shen Yun. “There’s the surprise of the digital backdrop technology, as well as the discovery of the story. It’s pretty rare to be able to laugh during a classical dance performance, so that’s already a plus for Shen Yun,” he noted. “You get to see magnificent, colorful costumes, music featuring non-classical instruments, and new sounds—it engages all your senses.”
He was also struck by the performance’s spiritual dimension. “You can sense the divine quality in the dancers’ movements, which are a bit different from what we’re used to seeing. With their grace and lightness, you get the feeling that there’s something a little less earthly about them than in other ballets.”
He also highlighted the kindness that radiates from the performance. “There’s a real sense of gentleness to it. We’re not here to impose an idea or to say, ‘I completely disagree.’ It’s more like, ‘Here’s what I have to offer—form your own opinion—but I’m presenting it to you with kindness. Take it or leave it; I’ll take you by the hand, and you follow me to see how far you can go.’”
According to Mr. Bouilloux, Shen Yun offers “a different perspective, allowing everyone to form their own opinion in a peaceful setting.”
