(Minghui.org) Minghui.org previously reported on the wrongful conviction of a Tianjin resident for practicing Falun Gong. It was recently learned that Guo Jia is a woman, not a man.
Ms. Guo was arrested on September 3, 2025, and stood trial at the Wuqing District Court on November 24. She received a verdict on December 30, 2025.
Ms. Guo filed an appeal with the Tianjin Intermediate Court, requesting to overturn the two-year-and-ten-month prison sentence and the 12,000-yuan court fine.
The intermediate court ruled against Ms. Guo recently (exact date unknown), and she was admitted to Division Six of the Tianjin Women’s Prison (located in Xiqing District) on April 9, 2026.
Ms. Guo’s family is very concerned about her health and safety because the prison is notorious for torturing jailed Falun Gong practitioners. According to insiders, the prison guards often bar practitioners from wearing warm clothes and force them to stand by open windows in the winter. Sometimes they are not given any food. Sleep deprivation and restrictions in purchasing daily necessities is used as a form of abuse. After a practitioner was forced to renounce her faith, she is forced to do hard labor for long hours every day, regardless of her age.
