(Minghui.org) A man in Kangping County, Liaoning Province, completed a four-year prison sentence on February 11, 2026. His family was never allowed to visit him once while he was incarcerated.
Mr. Chen Yuchun was arrested on May 17, 2021, when he visited two friends who practice Falun Gong. Since he also practiced Falun Gong, the police raided his home too. They didn’t find any Falun Gong materials and released him that day.
Mr. Chen was arrested again around 3 a.m. on February 12, 2022, while he placed Falun Gong informational materials on cars in a neighborhood. Five officers from the Kangping County Domestic Security Office knocked him to the ground, face down. They twisted his arms hard behind his back and cuffed him. He was in so much pain that he sweated profusely.
The police searched Mr. Chen’s car before driving to his home. They raided his home and videotaped the entire process. His older daughter trembled in fear and was unable to utter a word.
The police confiscated Mr. Chen’s computer, printer, laminator, DVDs, Falun Gong books and informational materials.
Mr. Chen was handcuffed to the staircase railing all night and he was unable to stand straight, squat, or lie down.
The Liaozhong District Procuratorate in Shenyang City (which oversees Kangping County) issued a formal arrest warrant for Mr. Chen on February 24, 2022. They also indicted him.
While in detention, Mr. Chen lost almost 30 pounds. He felt chills and pain all over. His eyes also went blind. The guards took him to the Kangping County Hospital but the doctors there couldn’t pinpoint what was going on.
Despite his condition, the Liaozhong District Court held a virtual hearing. Mr. Chen’s lawyer and younger daughter defended his innocence and demanded he be acquitted. The court sentenced him to four years and fined him 20,000 yuan.
Mr. Chen was admitted to the Shenyang City Prison after the wrongful conviction. He was put in the prison hospital. Three days later, he suddenly lapsed into a coma. He was hooked up to tubes when he woke up. The doctors told him that he had been diagnosed with stroke and diabetes.
Despite his condition, Mr. Chen was transferred to the Jinzhou Prison and was forced to do hard labor. The prison guards sometimes did not allow him to use the restroom or take hot showers. His right index finger still hurts and he cannot bend due to the long-term hard labor.
Mr. Chen was also on strict management during his imprisonment. He was not allowed to purchase daily necessities or receive family visits. His family was driven away every time they went to the prison to visit him. He was also not allowed to call them.
