Chester is in Delaware County in the southeastern part of the state, just outside of Philadelphia. Founded in 1644, it is the oldest city in Pennsylvania and has a rich industrial history.

According to Stefan Roots, Mayor of Chester: “One of Chester’s oldest traditions is this Mother’s Day parade.”

His wife said, “I would like to wish all mothers Happy Mother’s Day.”

Justin Tibbles, special assistant to Mayor Roots, said, “The Mother’s Day parade is a long-standing tradition in our city and is hosted by the Chester Elks Lodge. This event has been held for many years, making it a parade that the entire city of Chester looks forward to with great anticipation every year. Many community leaders and organizations participate in it. Naturally, it also serves as a celebration of all mothers, those who have contributed so much to raising children, nurturing the next generation, and helping to make this city such a wonderful community.”

Ms. Li, who coordinates the waist drum team, said the parade organizers invited them to perform in the parade, adding, “Everyone looks forward to your participation.”

She said she and the waist drum team were honored to come to Chester. Being mothers themselves, performing at this Mother’s Day parade serves as a tribute to the immense sacrifices made by all mothers and their contributions to the society, while also helping to foster friendship among members of the community.
