(Minghui.org) Four residents in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, were arrested on March 13, 2026, because they practice Falun Gong. One of them was roughed up despite his physical condition. They were detained for 15 days and released on March 28.
A group of 11 officers broke into Mr. Guo Peng’s home at noon on March 13, with the assistance of a locksmith. They arrested Mr. Guo, 28, and his three guests (all of whom practice Falun Gong), including Mr. Yuan Xiufeng, 49, Mr. Ye Changguo, 65, and Mr. Sun Zhanting, 79. The 11 officers were in plainclothes and most of them also wore face masks. None of them produced their IDs or warrants for the arrests and home search.
Officer Ding Jian hit Mr. Guo with his elbow and verbally abused him. When Mr. Guo oblected to the violence, several officers pushed him to the ground and handcuffed him behind his back. The police removed his glasses and then flashed a document in front of him. He was unable to see anything clearly. The police refused to give him back his glasses.
The police claimed that the practitioners were reported for distributing Falun Gong informational materials and that their activities “disrupted the daily lives” of local residents. They spent over 40 minutes searching Mr. Guo’s place. They confiscated his Falun Gong books, portrait of Falun Gong’s founder, laptop, printer, and informational materials. They also attempted to seize Mr. Guo’s wallet and an additional 2,000 yuan in cash, but he stopped them.
Mr. Guo suddenly had a medical episode and his body felt like it was burning inside. He demanded to go to the hospital, but the police accused him of faking an illness and took him and his three guests to the Gongrencun Police Station. All four practitioners were searched, and the keys to their homes, cash, and other personal items were confiscated.
Mr. Guo again demanded the police show their IDs but they did not. The police initially refused to give the practitioners anything to eat, but then used Mr. Yuan’s money to buy some bread for them that evening.
The police interrogated the practitioners separately and took them to the case processing center of the Tiexi Police Department in the evening.
The practitioners were forced to undergo comprehensive physical exams, including blood pressure, electrocardiogram, CT scan, chest X-ray, blood work, liver function test, and urinalysis. Their height, weight, fingerprints, fist prints, voiceprints, and iris scans were also forcibly recorded.
Mr. Yuan and Mr. Sun were admitted to the Tiexi District Detention Center at 4:30 a.m.
Mr. Ye kept shaking during the electrocardiogram and the doctor couldn’t finish the exam. He also refused to cooperate with the police when they were collecting his fingerprints. He and Mr. Guo were taken back to the police station and held there overnight.
The police took Mr. Guo to another hospital to repeat the physical exam the next morning, but did not give him anything to eat. Weak and hungry, he refused to get out of the car. The police had no way but to take him back to the police station. One officer verbally abused him.
Moments later, several officers surrounded Mr. Guo and dragged him off the bed and then to the hallway. He still refused to stand up or walk on his own. One officer yanked his hair and kicked him. They eventually pushed him into the police car and took him to the hospital for the physical exam.
After he witnessed how the police “treated” Mr. Guo, Mr. Ye was forced to cooperate with the physical exam when the police came to him later that afternoon. He discovered the police already fabricated a physical exam report in order to detain him.
Mr. Guo was found to have extremely high blood pressure (systolic pressure at 234 mmHg), but the police still took him and Mr. Ye to the Tiexi District Detention Center. The police said both of them would only be detained for three days, so they agreed to sign the detention notice.
The detention center guards took Mr. Guo to another hospital on March 17 for one more round of examinations, and the doctor confirmed that he had some damage to his heart. The police interrogated him later that day and on March 23.
Mr. Yuan, Mr. Ye, and Mr. Sun were also interrogated between March 15 and 18. The practitioners refused to answer any questions.
All four practitioners were transferred back to the Gongrencun Police Station on March 28 and they were released hours later.
Upon returning home, Mr. Guo visited his residential committee, and confirmed that no one reported him for “disrupting their daily lives.”
The practitioners also learned from their family members that on the evening they were arrested, their families went to the Gongrencun Police Station to inquire about their situation. The police denied having arrested the practitioners and claimed that they didn’t know the practitioners’ whereabouts. The families visited all the local police stations, but the staff said they didn’t have the practitioners. Only after the families officially reported the practitioners’ disappearance did officers from the Gongrencun Police Station admit that they arrested the practitioners. By then, the practitioners were already sent to the detention center.
The practitioners’ families also hired lawyers to represent their loved ones and repeatedly went to the police station to demand they be released, but deputy chief Zhang Siyu refused to meet with them.
Falun Gong Transformed the Practitioners
Mr. Guo used to be addicted to video games and drugs. He often skipped school and stole money from his parents. He was disappointed in himself but couldn’t see any hope. He found Falun Gong in 2020 and he began living by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and quit his addictions. He learned to be considerate of others and became more positive and open-minded. He is very grateful to Falun Gong for saving him and turning his life around.
Mr. Yuan is the manager of the procurement department at a large company. Unlike his coworkers, he refused to take bribes and he put the company’s interests first.
Mr. Ye quit smoking, drinking, and playing mahjong after he started practicing Falun Gong. He also changed his hot temper and no longer yelled at his wife. When his father passed away, his sister-in-law took over the elderly man’s house. Mr. Ye didn’t fight with her or demand a share of the house.
Despite his age, Mr. Sun still enjoys good health. He lives on his own and helps clean the neighborhood. He shovels snow in winter and many neighbors praise him.
