(Minghui.org) Ms. Liu Zhenli completed a six-year prison sentence on October 15, 2025, yet her whereabouts remain unknown.

Ms. Liu, 51, who lives in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, was arrested on October 15, 2019, because she practices Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. She was sentenced to six years in December 2020, and was sent to the Hubei Province Women’s Prison.

Ms. Liu’s prison term ended over seven months ago, but she never returned home. It is unclear whether the authorities sent her to a brainwashing center or other detention facilities. It is not uncommon for Falun Gong practitioners to be kept in detention even after they completed their prison sentences.

Just last month, in April 2026, another woman in Wuhan was taken straight to a brainwashing center right after she completed an eight-year prison term for practicing Falun Gong.

Prior to her latest prison sentence, Ms. Liu, a former textile factory worker, was arrested on June 8, 2011, and held at a brainwashing center. After she was arrested on April 13, 2012, she was given an unknown term of forced labor. Her third arrest on March 21, 2014, was followed a three-year prison sentence. She served eight months of her term at the Wuhan City First Detention Center and the remaining time at the Hubei Province Women’s Prison.

In addition to persecuting Ms. Liu, the police also harassed and intimidated her three sisters. Her husband was unable to endure the pressure from authorities and divorced her years ago.
