(Minghui.org) Ms. Tian Yuling who lives in Baoding City, Hebei Province, was arrested and mistreated for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since 1999.
Ms. Tian went to a community fair in Heishan Village, Xushui District, to distribute the materials on April 22, 2026, and was reported by someone. Two plainclothes officers soon arrived and ordered her to go with them. When she refused they called in two more officers.
The four of them tried to drag her into their cruiser. She strongly resisted and shouted for help. Many people came and took photos of the scene. Not wanting to be photographed, the police forcibly carried Ms. Tian into the cruiser and drove away.
It was already 2 p.m. when Ms. Tian was taken to the Dawangdian Police Station. She felt dizzy, vomited, and started to foam at the mouth. One officer tried to feed her some water, but she refused to drink it.
The foaming continued for over one hour. The police called in a doctor, who measured her blood pressure and performed an electrocardiogram. He said that she had no major problems except elevated blood pressure. An officer videotaped Ms. Tian throughout the entire physical exam. She was very weak and had difficulty speaking.
After the police had dinner, they took Ms. Tian to the Xushui District Hospital. She hadn’t been offered any food since her arrest that morning. Her systolic blood pressure registered at 180 mmHg, when a normal range is 120 mmHg or lower.
After the physical exam, the police took Ms. Tian to a lockup. The guards questioned certain exam results and demanded that the police repeat the exam. The police had to take Ms. Tian back to the hospital. This time, the doctor said she also had a heart condition. One officer blamed Ms. Tian for the “trouble” she caused them and said that she deserved to be detained.
Around 11 p.m., the police took Ms. Tian back to the police station and ordered her to sign a document. Her husband also came to the police station to inquire about her situation, as she hadn’t returned home after she left that morning. When she refused to sign the document, the police forced her husband to sign it on her behalf.
Before they released Ms. Tian, the police threatened to jeopardize her child’s future career if she dared to distribute Falun Gong materials in their jurisdiction again.
Ms. Tian asked her husband the next day what document he signed on her behalf. He said he didn’t read it carefully, but saw some wording about her being given a two-week detention, but she was released due to her medical conditions.
Officers from the Bailong Village Police Station, and Tian Haoran, the director of Baibao Village in Bailong Township, harassed Ms. Tian on April 25 and May 12. When they took photos of her, her husband also photographed the officers. They were scared and said he would be breaking the law if he uploaded their photos online. They left after about 15 minutes.
