(Minghui.org) In Belleville on June 12 and on Place Saint Michel on June 14, Falun Dafa practitioners introduced the spiritual practice to passersby and raised awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. They also collected signatures on a petition calling for an end to the CCP’s human rights abuses.

Alexandre, who practices martial arts, paused to watch practitioners demonstrating the exercises in Belleville on June 12. After he heard about the persecution and the CCP’s state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting, he said, “The CCP is trash! This persecution is barbaric. Completely crazy!” He encouraged the practitioners to keep up their efforts.

Freedom of Speech Is Essential
Jamila and her friends saw the practitioners’ event on Place Saint Michel. She said, “Freedom of speech is essential. When people cannot openly express their thoughts or live according to their beliefs, it is a quiet form of enslavement—a prison without visible walls. To me, it is an unbearable torment.”
Julie said, “It’s disheartening to see people barred from doing the exercises and practicing what they choose—especially when there is no meaningful reason for such restrictions.”
Her friend Adil said, “It’s absurd to ban people from doing what they like. There’s nothing wrong with doing the exercises, especially to improve one’s health.”
Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance Are Universal
André Mottier, 82, noticed the event on Place Saint Michel and said, “China is large, and has a big population and many ethnic groups. Attacking people who have values is terrible.
“Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance are universal values, virtues that everyone should accept, no matter what our religious beliefs.”
David Carcone, who spoke with a practitioner for a long time, said he was appalled by the forced organ harvesting. He said, “I think that banning a [cultivation] practice is stupid. We must move forward, not backward..”
Speaking of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, David said, “Every ethnic group should practice them. If we can change our mindset to look forward to the principles, we will move forward.”
He said that what practitioners were doing was important “because this is not just an idea, it also keeps people connected. This is what we need to see.”
