(Minghui.org) The Huludao City Intermediate Court in Liaoning Province, ruled on June 10, 2026, to uphold the 3.5-year prison sentence of a local man for his faith in Falun Gong.
Presiding judge Wang Heng, assistant judges Ji Tianqi and Liu Xiaotang, clerk Liu Shihui, and assistant to judges, Yang Shuo, signed the ruling. Mr. Gao Zuokui’s family submitted a motion to the intermediate court on June 16, 2026, requesting a reconsideration of his case and that the appeals ruling be overturned.
Mr. Gao, 63, took up Falun Gong in 1997 and soon overcame his ten-plus-years’ addiction to gambling. He also recovered from his stomach and heart conditions. After the communist regime launched a nationwide campaign against Falun Gong in July 1999, he held firm to his faith and was repeatedly targeted. He was previously sentenced to fifteen months on September 25, 2015.
Mr. Gao’s latest prison sentence stemmed from his arrest on the night of March 17, 2022, after he was reported for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sierbao Town Police Station released him shortly afterwards.
Mr. Gao later moved to a different place. The police accused him of trying to escape and put him on the wanted list. They arrested him at work on October 22, 2025. Prosecutor Long Dan and his assistant Liu Xiaohan from the Lianshan District Procuratorate issued a formal arrest warrant for him on November 13, 2025.
The Lianshan District Court sentenced Mr. Gao to three and a half years and fined him 10,000 yuan on March 27, 2026. Presiding judge Zhang Guanzhong, judges Li Hanmo and Gao Jinxing, clerk Zhou Chuqi, and assistant to judges, Sun Yao, signed the ruling.
The Huludao City Intermediate Court ruled against Mr. Gao on June 10, 2026. His family submitted a motion to reconsider his case six days later.
