(Minghui.org) A 66-year-old woman in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was subjected to various forms of abuse while serving a lengthy term for her faith in Falun Gong. She recently developed uremia. Despite her condition, the prison guards still forced her to work without pay.

Ms. Xu Qiang was arrested on July 11, 2020, and sentenced to nine years and one month at an unknown time. She was admitted to the twelfth division at the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on March 3, 2022.

The prison is notorious for using physical torture and brainwashing tactics on jailed Falun Gong practitioners in an attempt to make them renounce their faith. The twelfth division, which is a prison inside a prison, is reserved to “handle” practitioners who held firm to their faith.

Ms. Xu was beaten by the inmates and moved between different teams within the twelfth division. For telling another practitioner about her suffering on July 18, 2023, the guard held her in solitary confinement for one month. About ten days after Ms. Xu was let out, a criticism session was held to attack her for her faith. A guard made her to stand facing a wall to humiliate her.

The guards arranged multiple inmates to monitor Ms. Xu around the clock over the years. Every time she was allowed to receive family visits or call her family, her conversations were under the close surveillance of the guards. During visits, her family often asked if she had been tortured, and she dared not answer and only responded with an expression of pain and fear.

Guard Gao Xinjing warned that Ms. Xu would never be released early because she still held firm to her faith. Guard Meng Zhuhan often verbally abused her and punished her for not renouncing her faith. She was on edge all the time for fear of being punished again.

Ms. Xu’s health declined due to the relentless persecution and mental pressure. She was found to have uremia during a physical exam. The twelfth division did not tell her about the exam result and also denied her family’s repeated requests for her medical records. They moved her to the eleventh division (a division for the elderly and the infirm) in March 2026. The guards at the new division gave her uremia medication to take. Only then did she learn of her diagnosis.

Ms. Xu has been feeling extremely weak, dizzy, listless, and despondent in the past few months. She is in danger of collapsing at any moment, yet the guards are still forcing her to do free labor of folding cardboard boxes.
