(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhang Hongjie, 53, in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, was sent to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on May 21, 2026, to serve a two-year term for her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhang was arrested at her home on the night of August 14, 2025, after she talked to a man about Falun Gong earlier that day. She was unaware that he was a plainclothes officer from the Taihe District Domestic Security Office.
Li Jing of the Taihe District Domestic Security Office and several officers from the Longjiang Police Station raided her home. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and took her to the Jinzhou City Women’s Detention Center.
The Linghai City Court heard Ms. Zhang’s case on November 10, 2025, and convicted her at an unknown day. She was transferred to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on May 21, 2026.
Ms. Zhang is not the only Falun Gong practitioner indicted by the Linghai City Procuratorate and sentenced by the Linghai City Court. Both agencies have been designated to handle all Falun Gong cases in the greater Jinzhou region since 2020, and they act as rubber stamps that carry out the orders from the Jinzhou City Political and Legal Affairs Committee and the Jinzhou City 610 Office to convict Falun Gong practitioners for their faith. More than one prosecutor and judge said that they don’t dare defy their superiors’ orders when someone asked why they prosecute law-abiding practitioners.
Prior to Ms. Zhang, 74 other practitioners in the greater Jinzhou region have been wrongfully convicted for their faith.
