(Minghui.org) A 76-year-old woman in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, is facing indictment for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

The ordeal of Ms. Guan Yueai, born on December 13, 1949, began with her arrest on November 2, 2025, after she was reported for giving out Falun Gong materials. The arresting officers from the Enping City Domestic Security Office and her local police station raided her home, and confiscated her Falun Gong books, a portrait of Falun Gong’s founder, and 1,000 yuan in cash. She was not given a list of the items that were confiscated.

Ms. Guan was taken to the police station to sign her case document, and she was released on bail.

The Pengjiang District Procuratorate summoned Ms. Guan on June 18, 2026. She went there as requested. The prosecutor indicated that the Enping City Police Department submitted her case to them and that they were now reviewing it.

Past Persecution

Ms. Guan took up Falun Gong in 1998 and her health improved. After the persecution started a year later, she remained firm in her faith and was repeatedly targeted for persecution.

Ms. Guan went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong on July 17, 2000, and was arrested. She was detained for 40 days.

Ms. Guan was arrested again in March 2001 and held at a lockup. She was arrested on November 2, 2002, and detained for 14 days; her workplace was forced to pay her 1,000-yuan fine.

Her elderly mother, who lived with her, was terrified when the police broke in to raid the place. Ms. Guan’s Falun Gong books, informational materials, and several hundred yuan in cash were confiscated. After nearly 40 days in detention, she was given a 1.5-year term at the Sanshui Forced Labor Camp. Due to a medical condition, she was denied admission and released.

Ms. Guan was arrested again in 2010 for distributing Falun Gong materials. Her Falun Gong books and informational materials were confiscated. She was released that evening.
