(Minghui.org) While I recently helped a fellow practitioner fix a computer speaker issue, I was reminded to cultivate my speech. Jia asked me to help Peng whose computer speakers stopped working. Although my technical skills are limited to installing operating systems and I am not very good at troubleshooting other issues, I still went to see what I could do.
When I arrived, I followed my initial plan and tried updating the drivers online. A message said the drivers were already up to date, yet there was a red X on the speaker icon, along with a notification that no audio devices were identified. I tried several other methods, but nothing worked. I told them that the only option left was to reinstall the operating system, and if the red X remained, it would likely be a hardware problem. Peng said that the computer produced sound before, and suggested that we ask Master to help us.
The re-installation went smoothly until the system automatically began installing drivers. The drivers waiting to be installed appeared in blue, and those successfully installed appeared in green. When it reached the sound card driver, the text turned red and the message said the installation failed. I worked on the computer while the other two sent forth righteous thoughts to support the process. Although the sound card driver showed the installation failed, the display kept flickering as if it were still trying to install.
Peng said the malfunctioning speakers reminded him to guard his speech. He explained that he had a very direct personality and sometimes spoke without thinking, so he needed to pay more attention to this. Just as he finished saying this, something remarkable happened. The sound card driver blinked a few times, and the red text turned green, showing that the installation was successful. All three of us said in excitement in unison, “Thank you, Master!” Peng reminded us not to get carried away, and said that Master is right beside us, saw that we looked within and improved our xinxing, and helped us.
The installation continued until the system was fully set up. I thought about this experience: nothing we encounter in cultivation is coincidental; so why did I encounter this situation today?
I told them, “I haven’t really cultivated my speech, even though Master repeatedly enlightened. Once, because I didn’t cultivate my speech, I almost fell. Although I know to pay attention, I still sometimes can’t control myself. I really need to be stricter with myself. Even the computer is helping us improve.”
Jia added that he also had shortcomings in this area, “Sometimes I just say things without thinking. I need to take things more seriously in the future.” As the three of us looked inward, the computer system completed the installation successfully.
Thank you, Master, for your compassionate arrangement to help us cultivate. We must study the Fa more, cultivate ourselves well, do the three things well, fulfill our mission, and return home with Master.
