(Minghui.org) A once healthy 51-year-old woman was abused to the point of becoming emaciated and haggard while serving a six-year prison term because she practices Falun Gong.
Ms. Xue Shunrong, of Huzhu County, Qinghai Province, was arrested on July 6, 2023, and sentenced to six years on May 8, 2024. See the related reports for details of her arrest and trial.
After she was admitted to the Qinghai Province Women’s Prison, Ms. Xue was subjected to various forms of abuse, including long-term solitary confinement, strict management, sleep deprivation, and starvation. Her family was not allowed to visit her or send clothes or other items to her. They learned from an insider that she was reduced to skin and bones due to the abuse.
This is not the first time that Ms. Xue was arrested and tortured for her faith. After an earlier arrest in mid-March 2016, she was beaten with rubber tubes and shocked with electric batons for several hours straight. Her body was covered with wounds, which kept bleeding and oozing pus for over a week.
