(Minghui.org) A married couple in Jining City, Shandong Province, has been detained incommunicado since their arrests on December 18, 2025, for their shared faith in Falun Gong. The authorities barred their family from visiting them and also refused to provide any updates.

Mr. Chen Yanguo and his wife were arrested after a surveillance camera recorded them putting up stickers that said “Falun Dafa is good.” The police followed them home and raided their place. They have been held at the Chengbei Detention Center since.

As Mr. Chen’s son and daughter-in-law live in another city, they asked their cousin to visit the couple the day after their arrests. The detention center guards didn’t allow the cousin to see the couple and refused to provide any information. The guards accepted the clothes that the cousin had brought for the couple.

Mr. Chen’s son and daughter-in-law went to the detention center weeks later, but they were also denied visits.

Now six months have passed and Mr. Chen and his wife remain detained. Their family is still kept in the dark regarding their current status.

Two Prior Labor Camp Terms

Mr. Chen began to practice Falun Gong before the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution in 1999. He was arrested in 2002 after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. He was later given two labor camp terms, totaling five years. He was subjected to brutal torture while in custody and barely survived.

While Mr. Chen was imprisoned, his wife raised their two sons by herself, as well as cared for Mr. Chen’s mother, who fell ill as a result of the trauma of his persecution. His mother passed away shortly after Mr. Chen was released.
