(Minghui.org) I began practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. Throughout my cultivation journey and the process of letting go of attachments, I have gained righteous understandings based on the Fa, cultivated away attachments, and assimilated to Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Filled with boundless gratitude toward Master Li, I am sharing my cultivation experiences. Please kindly point out any shortcomings.
Using Dafa Principles At My Job
Hired Under Special Consideration
My husband and I both lost our jobs, so we moved to another city to find work. I met a pharmacy owner who made an exception and hired me. She said, “You’re the only employee who hasn’t studied medicine. I hired you because you have sales and marketing experience, and you seem sharp and quick-witted.”
At work, I uphold the standards of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance in all I do. I dedicate myself to mastering my professional knowledge, humbly seek guidance from more experienced colleagues, and am not afraid to get my hands dirty or work hard. I approach every detail of my work with diligence and a strong sense of responsibility.
Guided by Dafa, I treat customers with courtesy and maintain a peaceful state of mind at all times. Most of the customers who visit the store are elderly. When interacting with them, I speak gently, show respect, and consider their needs.
When customers are feeling down, I patiently offer guidance, explaining that the causes of illness are 70% mental and 30% physical. When conflicts arise, I teach them the importance of staying calm, avoiding arguments, and showing more understanding toward others—for when one’s mind is at peace, the body will naturally recover.
If time permits and the customer is receptive, I will further discuss traditional Chinese culture and raise the topic of Falun Dafa and the reasons for the Three Withdrawals.
Many customers appreciate my honest and trustworthy approach to service, which has led to an increase in repeat customers and a significant boost in business.
One day, a customer came to the store wanting to be served by me, but I hadn’t started work yet. The manager on duty told the customer I worked the afternoon shift and offered to assist him with whatever he needed. The customer insisted on waiting for me, saying, “I trust her.” That afternoon, he had been waiting in the store with his granddaughter for quite some time before I arrived. When I found out, I was deeply moved.
Maintaining this trust is my responsibility; it is the driving force behind my dedication to my work and has fostered a positive relationship between me and the customers. I owe this commitment to the guidance of Master’s teachings.
Promoted to Pharmacy Manager
My work across all areas earned recognition from my boss and manager. Two months later, my boss asked me to become the store manager on two occasions. I turned her down both times because three store managers before me had resigned one after another, mainly due to low sales. For the past seven or eight years, revenue had never exceeded 100,000 yuan. Of course, if the boss isn’t making money, neither are the employees.
The third time the boss spoke with me, she said earnestly, “Just do this as a favor.” I had no choice but to accept. However, I hoped she would find a more suitable candidate as soon as possible, since I didn’t feel qualified for the role.
To my surprise, after I became store manager, our sales increased month after month. Six months later, they were between 180,000 and 190,000 yuan and even reached 200,000 yuan.
Requesting a Raise in an Upright and Dignified Manner
The boss made more money, and the employees were paid more, but after several months, my salary hadn’t changed. Faced with the boss’s treatment, I reflected on the principle of no loss, no gain.
In today’s society, moral standards are deteriorating. It’s common for employers to withhold wages, treat workers poorly, increase their workload, force them to work overtime, and extend their working hours. However, employees dare not express their dissatisfaction.
As Dafa disciples who cultivate the Fa, we shoulder the mission of assisting Master in Fa-rectification and saving sentient beings. With this in mind, I approached my boss openly and confidently to discuss my salary. We talked on three occasions, and I received a raise each time.
The boss asked, “Do you know why I gave you a raise each time you asked?”
I replied, “I don’t.”
She said, “It’s precisely because you do such a great job.”
I responded, “That’s exactly why I’m entitled to ask for more pay, isn’t it?”
She burst out laughing and exclaimed, “Well said, well said.”
I used the most straightforward approach to address the boss’s initial reluctance to pay me more. Once her attitude was set right, business flourished, and she got exactly what she had hoped for. In the end, it was all a matter of destiny bringing us together.
My Family Is Blessed for Supporting Me
I have been practicing for over 20 years, and my son has always supported me and helped me save people. While he was in school, he shared facts about Dafa with several of his classmates, helped them withdraw from the Communist Youth League and the Young Pioneers, and brought me a list of those who had withdrawn.
Seeing my son’s kind deeds and the results of his efforts, I am gratified and overjoyed that so many people have been saved. Growing up in the home of a Dafa practitioner, my son matured early and understood how busy I was, so he helped with household chores whenever he could.
One summer, when my son was only about 15, two male family members were sent to labor camps for practicing Falun Dafa. My mother bought a load of coal for the winter, even though no one at home could move the heavy coal.
Realizing that my elderly mother and I couldn’t move the coal to the storage bin, my son quietly took on the task alone. He strained every muscle, hauling, pulling, and dragging, using every method he could think of. He worked at it for an entire afternoon until his clothes were completely soaked through.
Seeing how exhausted he was, my mother wept with heartache, murmuring, “This was supposed to be your uncle’s job, but the evil has locked him up in a labor camp, and now you, just a child, have to do this work.” Her words moved both my son and me to tears.
However, I believe that the principle that good and evil receive rewards and retribution, respectively, is a law of the universe. Just when my son had graduated from vocational school but was unemployed, good fortune arrived—a job came right to our doorstep.
My husband’s former employer decided to reinstate him. The company head said, “I heard you have a son who is looking for work; have him work here too.” The company was a large state-owned enterprise in the financial sector.
This unexpected good fortune resolved our family’s major difficulties. I know it was my son’s actions that earned him Dafa's blessings.
My husband also supports my practice of Dafa. For over 20 years, he has seen me go out with other practitioners to clarify the truth and distribute flyers and other materials about Falun Dafa to save people. Although I could tell he worried about me, he never tried to stop me.
What brings me the greatest comfort is that he stepped up to help when I was most in need, accompanying me to visit a practitioner who was detained in a labor camp. He cleverly distracted the guards, giving me the chance to discuss important matters with the practitioner. On that occasion, I was able to give them a copy of Master’s lectures.
