(Minghui.org) The Fushun City Intermediate Court in Liaoning Province ruled on July 28, 2026, to uphold the prison sentences of ten local residents for their faith in Falun Gong.
The ten practitioners were arrested on July 12, 2024, and sentenced on April 23, 2026, after four hearings between November 2025 and March 2026. They filed appeals with the Fushun City Intermediate Court, which notified their families and lawyers on June 21, 2026, to prepare for an open hearing.
On June 28, however, the intermediate court suddenly notified the lawyers that the opening hearing had been canceled and that they should submit written defense statements.
The lawyers wrote to the court on July 2, demanding an open hearing. The intermediate court ignored them and instead issued a ruling against their clients on July 28.
The ten practitioners will now serve the following prison sentences:
Mr. Wang Nanfang (70): seven years with a 20,000-yuan fine.
Mr. Zhou Shuyou (64), Mr. Liu Haitao (48), Ms. Lai Chunlian (73), and Mr. Wang Guozhong (51 and disabled): five years each with a 15,000-yuan fine.
Mr. Wang Zexing (58), Ms. Hu Mingli (64), Ms. Hu Fengju (65), Ms. Huang Yuping (63), and Ms. Li Shuqin (67, with impaired eyesight and needs help walking): four and a half years each with a 10,000-yuan fine.
