(Minghui.org) A woman in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, remains detained since her arrest on April 16, 2026, for practicing Falun Gong. She was put on criminal detention and is likely to be prosecuted for her faith.

Ms. Gao Ying, 58, was arrested at home by officers from the Panlong Police Station. They broke in and raided her place. They left her front door wide open when they took her away.

Ms. Gao’s family received her detention notice later that day. She is being held at the Kunming City Detention Center on the charge of “undermining law enforcement with a cult organization,” the standard pretext used by the communist regime to criminalize Falun Gong.

Ms. Gao’s family hasn’t received any updates regarding her case since then. They are very worried about her.

Ms. Gao isn’t the only one in her family who has been targeted for practicing Falun Gong. Her daughter was given 15 days of administrative detention in 2018 by officers from the Qilin Police Station, after a classmate’s parents reported her for talking to the classmate about Falun Gong at school.

Since then, Ms. Gao’s family has been placed under close surveillance by the authorities. Their phone calls are monitored, and the police harass them.
