My Wise Neighbor
One of my elderly neighbors believes in Dafa. When the Tiananmen Square self-immolation hoax was aired in 2011, I went to tell her the truth about it, but she quickly said, “No need to say anything. I know it’s fake!”
She continued, “I’ve actually seen someone set themselves on fire. Once the flames take hold, the pain makes them sprint wildly and scream. Then they collapse, thrashing about until they finally go still and die. But look at the people on TV—they just walked slowly. You can tell they were afraid of stepping out of the camera frame, or else no one would be there to put out the fire. Even when we’re cooking at home and accidentally burn our hands, we instinctively shake them vigorously. How could anyone move so leisurely? It’s obviously fake. They must have worn fireproof suits.”
The Factory Manager Who Visited The Site in Person
My uncle likes to hear us talk about Dafa. Whenever the television broadcasts something slandering Dafa, he always comes to us to ask for the truth. After the staged self-immolation was aired, I asked him why he hadn't asked us about it. He replied, “I knew it was fake.”
He said that his factory manager neighbor often went to Beijing on business. A few days before the self-immolation, the manager had to go to Beijing again. He thought it was strange that this time he had to obtain several documents and a special entry permit just to buy a train ticket. After he finished his business, he decided to take a stroll around Tiananmen Square. But as soon as he arrived in the vicinity, two plainclothes officers grabbed him and demanded to know what he was doing there. The manager explained that he was on a business trip. When the officers asked for proof, he had to show all his documents, entry permit, and ticket. After inspecting everything, the officers told him to leave immediately. “Just leave,” they said. “You aren’t allowed to wander around here.”
After he returned home, the television began broadcasting the staged self-immolation. The manager said to my uncle, “Don’t believe it. I was stopped before I even reached the square. How could those self-immolators possibly make it all the way there, sit down, and set themselves on fire? It’s likely staged, since they were keeping ordinary people from the square so they could film the event without interference.”
