(Minghui.org) I’m in my 80s, and I started practicing Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) in 1996. Soon after, my body was cleansed, and the ailments that had been tormenting me were all gone, including rheumatic pain, swelling, and sinusitis. My body felt light and healthy.

Several times when I was transforming karma, it happened at night, but as soon as I got up the next morning, I felt fresh, like a new person.

Before retirement, my annual physical checkup at the workplace showed that everything was normal. The doctors were surprised by the results for someone in her 50s, and witnessed firsthand the miraculous health benefits of Dafa.

Due to practicing Falun Gong, I look younger than my actual age. When I was in my 60s, I looked like I was in my 50s. When I was in my 70s, my menstrual period even came back. In contrast, when I was in my early 20s, I looked older than my actual age, and a villager once said, “Are you 30 yet?”

Previously, I had not written any experience-sharing articles because I didn’t know what to share and believed I was not doing well in cultivation. These notions remained with me until Minghui called for submissions for the 22nd Online Fa Conference for Practitioners in China in 2025.

A fellow practitioner encouraged me to participate and promised to help me type up everything on the computer and polish my article. I began writing down my cultivation experience, and was surprised to discover that writing an experience-sharing paper is truly wonderful!

I’d like to share a few experiences while writing the article.

Removing Resentment Towards My Younger Son

I have two sons. When my younger son was two years old, I had to leave him with my mother because I was transferred to another work location. I thought he wouldn’t feel lonely because my brother’s daughter was about the same age. I kept my elder son with me because of his schooling.

Unexpectedly, the paperwork for my work transfer was not fully completed until three years later. Due to those three lost years, my younger son grew up feeling that I favored his brother and resented me. Moreover, because he was smart, I had high expectations and was strict with him. This added to his resentment.

My husband and I now live in our elder son’s apartment. Our younger son was suspicious that I was once again favoring his brother. His brother lives in another city, and hopes that our younger son will visit us regularly in his absence and help take care of things for us. However, our younger son has barely visited us over the past two years, even when we invited him.

This bothered me very much and it was my biggest attachment. I have exchanged understandings with practitioners many times which helped calm me down, but the root cause remained and was still hurtful.

As I was writing my experience-sharing paper, I couldn’t help burping from time to time, which was unusual. I realized my body was releasing a substance alongside the resentment I had held for so many years. My long-standing phlegm problem cleared up as well. I came to understand that the distance between my younger son and me was being removed.

I looked inward by recalling my interactions with my sons. After I brought my younger son back to live with us, I treated both sons according to the principle: “Keeping the bowl balanced and not shortchanging either one.” I divided everything equally between them and treated them the same.

Looking back, I suddenly realized that this was a human notion, because everyone has their own fate, and dividing everything equally does not necessarily mean being fair. In addition, I had forgotten that interpersonal relationships are karmically based. My poor understanding of Fa principles was the root cause of feeling wronged, jealous, and a sense of unfairness.

Alas, I realized that I was actually the one in the wrong, and the root cause was within me! Instantly, all the anger, resentment, and complaints disappeared. I felt light and relaxed in my heart and body. My resentment for my younger son was completely gone, and I felt a little guilty for having brought him unnecessary pain.

I also came to realize that my conflict with him over the years helped me let go of the attachment of sentimentality and transcend the human level.

Removing Resentment Towards My Husband

While I was writing about removing resentment for my son, the resentment for my husband was exposed.

It had been warm with the indoor temperature lingering around 30-31°C (86-88°F), but my husband was wearing a lined jacket at dinner. I said, “I think a short sleeve or long sleeve shirt would be better.”

He was upset and complained, “You’re always meddling, making a fuss, and talking too much. You’re really annoying. Leave me alone and take a walk!”

I immediately argued back, “I have been caring for you for more than 30 years, but you don’t even notice. You do nothing around the house. You don’t even pour your own water or fill your own rice bowl. How can you say this?” The words came out of my mouth like a machine gun.

A while later, I calmed down and looked inward. I realized my cultivation was not sincere and I wasn’t digging deep enough. I shouldn’t have gotten upset with my husband who has been physically and intellectually disabled since an accident. This incident exposed my deep-seated resentment for him.

I was determined to dig out the root of this resentment and eliminate it.

Removing the Notion of “Getting Old”

In the process of removing resentment for my son, I also realized why I had been looking forward to his visit: I was getting older and might eventually need him to take care of me.

Master said,

“In the process of transformation, human cells will be gradually replaced by the high-energy matter, and aging will slow down. One’s body will appear to gradually return to youth and experience gradual transformation until, in the end, it is completely replaced by the high-energy matter.” (Lecture Five, Zhuan Falun)

How can a Dafa practitioner get old? I must remove the notion of “getting old” and stop worrying about it. I should also remove the attachment of relying on others and looking outward, and disintegrate the feeling of loneliness. With so many people out there needing to be saved, I do not have time to feel lonely.

The process of exposing and shedding attachments and notions through writing experience-sharing articles is really wonderful!
