(Minghui.org) I began to practice Falun Dafa in 1996. Before then, I was suffering from several ailments, including a duodenal ulcer. However, they all disappeared not long after I took up the practice. During the years of my cultivation, Master saved my life many times, and I would like to tell you about some of them.
Dangers at a Coal Mine
After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Dafa in July 1999, many practitioners in our area were illegally arrested, sentenced to jail, or became homeless. I, too, was forced to leave home and fired from my job. To support myself, I went to work at a privately owned coal mine.
One day, the pit manager told me to go into a sealed-off tunnel to break through the sealed wall so that we could mine the coal in that area. Being new there, I was a bit apprehensive and told him I didn’t know how to get there. He gave me directions.
I remembered that Master mentioned in Zhuan Falun what a factory manager said about Falun Dafa practitioners in their factory: “They work very diligently and will do any assignment their supervisor gives.” (Lecture Four, Zhuan Falun). So I plucked up my courage and went to the site.
I didn’t know much about the safety issues there at the time, nor did I pay much attention to the danger of coal mine gas. I picked up a big sledgehammer and went down the tunnel.
The sealed wall was about 150 meters (about a 10th of a mile) away, but when I’d gone only about 50 meters (55 yards) down the tunnel, I started to have difficulty breathing due to a lack of oxygen.
I thought: “I’m a Dafa practitioner and I have Master to protect me. I’ll be fine.” I kept asking Master to help me and I made it to the sealed-off wall.
I swung the sledgehammer and started smashing away. Soon, the wall was broken through, and I went back to the surface.
Just then, two people from the ventilation section of the coal mine came over and said to the pit manager, “We’ll go down now to knock down the wall.”
“But I’ve already sent someone to do it,” the manager told them as I walked over. “Look, he’s back now.”
They looked at me and said in shock, “Did you go down there just like that? You’re so lucky you didn’t suffocate to death!
“Look, there are two major dangers involved. Number one, you should always measure the gas levels. If the tunnel is filled with methane, you could suffocate and die. Number two, you used an iron hammer, which could easily create sparks, cause a gas explosion, and ruin the whole pit. You need to use a non-sparking copper hammer instead. Do you understand? You’ve violated the mine’s safety procedures.” I was shocked by what they told me.
“Well, he is back, safe and sound,” said the manager as he tried to brush it off with a smile. Only then did I realize that, without Master’s protection, I might not be alive and that I could have caused a major disaster! Tears of gratitude for what Master had done for me came to my eyes.
I also heard people complaining about the management: “They’re just driven by production and give no concern for what happens to us workers.”
As it turned out, when the ventilation section was notified earlier that coal in that area was to be mined, they had sent two people to break through the sealed-off wall. When they got there, they found the area was full of methane, so because they hadn’t taken any oxygen with them, they didn’t go in.
They didn’t return for a few days, which delayed production, so the pit manager told me to do it without giving me any instructions on the safety issues.
I Survived Unharmed When a Large Rock Landed on Me
In 2006, I went to work in another coal mine. Three other miners and I were contracted to build stone walls in mine tunnels.
When we got to the worksite one day, we noticed that a large rock was about to fall. I quickly found a pole to try to shore it up. While I was clearing the base area, the rock crashed down on me.
Miraculously, when the rock hit me, it broke into three pieces. Two pieces landed on either side of me, and one landed on top, trapping me. My mind went blank on impact.
A little while later, my head cleared, and I heard the other three saying, “Hurry, hurry up!” But the pieces were just too big to budge.
They tried different things until finally the three of them pushed and pried one side of the middle piece enough to lift it just high enough for me to crawl out from underneath. Other than a small cut on my lip that was bleeding, I wasn’t injured anywhere else.
The rock was over 20 centimeters (eight inches) thick, about 1.4 meters (five feet) in length, and 90 centimeters (35 inches) wide, and would have weighed over a ton. I could not have survived unharmed without Master’s protection. Thank you, Master, for saving my life again!
Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
I shared a one-story house with two other miners. One rainy day, one of them was away. The two of us left were feeling cold, so we heated the kang (brick bed) with a coal fire and kept the window open to let out the smoke.
By around 9:00 pm, we closed the window to keep out the insects and went to sleep with the coal fire still burning under the kang.
I woke up around midnight, but I could not get up no matter how hard I tried. My mind was blank, and I couldn’t do anything. Then I thought of Master and begged him to help me. Slowly, I managed to get up, feeling rather nauseous, and walked to the door, but fell down as soon as I reached it.
My coworker heard the noise and tried to help me up, but he also fell down. Together, the two of us begged Master to save us. Slowly, we managed to stand up, hold onto the windowsill, and open the window. Then, we held each other and cried aloud.
Once again, our benevolent Master had saved our lives! As I was writing this, tears of gratitude poured down my face again.
I Survived Yet Another Incident
One day, I went to help my brother-in-law build a pigpen. We were laying a concrete foundation, and his son was bringing the mixed concrete to me in a wheelbarrow -loads that weighed about 100 kilograms (220 pounds) each.
My brother-in-law and his son started to argue over something; the son got angry, and he pushed a load of concrete towards me. The wheelbarrow flipped, and the handle slammed right into my temple. I was completely dazed for a moment, and it took me a few minutes to recover.
Everyone present was in shock, even though they all knew that I practice Falun Dafa and that Master protects me.
The son was so scared that he tried to insist on taking me to the hospital. “Don’t worry, I’m fine,” I said to him as I continued with the job.
Later, when I thought back on what had happened, it truly scared me: the concrete was incredibly heavy, plus the momentum of the wheelbarrow tipping over, and all that weight crashing down on my temple—it was truly a miracle it didn’t kill me.
Most people simply wouldn’t have survived a blow like that. It is Master who once again protected me. Thank you, Master, for your boundless compassion and protection!
