(Minghui.org) Candlelight flickered across Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí) in Prague on the evening of September 19 as Falun Gong practitioners did the exercises and displayed photographs of fellow practitioners who were persecuted to death by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Many people who paused to observe asked about purpose of the event, and some signed a petition to support practitioners’ efforts to end the persecution.

Practitioners from different European countries held several events over the course of two days. On September 18, they gathered in front of the Chinese Embassy in Prague to do the exercises and hold a candlelight vigil. They commemorated fellow practitioners who died in the persecution and protested the CCP’s 27-year persecution, as well as the atrocity of state-sanctioned organ harvesting from living practitioners.

On September 19, they held a rally and parade in downtown Prague, followed by a candlelight vigil that evening in Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí).

Many people stopped to watch the activities, read the flyers, and speak with practitioners. After learning about practitioners’ efforts to stop the persecution, residents and tourists signed petitions calling for an end to the forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners.

An Israeli cleaning company owner who signed a petition in support of Falun Gong after learning about the persecution said, “Everyone in the world must have freedom.

“The Chinese Communist Party doesn’t like Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. The [Chinese] government doesn’t want people to be free. They want to turn people into slaves.”

Before he signed the petition, he listened to a practitioner talk about Falun Gong and explain why the CCP’s persecutes it. He wanted to help rescue those being persecuted.

He said, “This is very important. If you don’t let people know what’s happening in your country, you can do nothing. So keep doing this. I know what you are saying, because I am Jewish. I know what it means. China and the Chinese people want to be free.

“I wish you good luck and hope you get your matters settled. I hope all will be good for your country and your people. You will be free because you deserve it. Today is already 2026. We will pray for you.”

Nurse: Give Yourself a Voice

Nuria, a nurse on a visit to Prague, and her colleagues signed a petition calling for an end to the CCP’s forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners. She said the forced organ harvesting “makes no sense. I really don’t understand how these things [organ harvesting and trafficking] are done nowadays. What seems strange to me is that not everyone is signing [the petition] to end this.”

Nuria said she thought what they were doing was “Very good. It’s a calm way to tell people about something—without violence, without shouting. I really like this.”

Referring to Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she said, “I think it’s very good to learn about this. You have to give yourself a voice and let everyone know about it.”

Visitors From Poland Cannot Imagine Such Things Happening in the 21st Century

A group of students from Poland signed the petition. One of them, Agata, said, “We think that forced organ harvesting is wrong.”

Antony, the group chaperon, said, “I don’t think it’s right to do this to people. It’s really cruel.”

Joanna, a tourist from Poland, and her friends saw practitioners demonstrating the exercises and the glow of candlelight in Old Town Square. They looked at the photographs of practitioners who died due to the persecution.

“We are moved; we had absolutely no idea such a cultivation practice existed. It’s so touching and beautiful,” said Joanna.

She and her friends said that they also strive to live by Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, adding, “Real life is complicated, and people vary. Living by these principles isn’t easy, but it’s worth the effort. If everyone could do this, the world would be a better place.”

After she learned about the ongoing 27 years of persecution and the forced organ harvesting, Joanna said, “We cannot imagine such things happening in the 21st century. It’s truly unbelievable.”

Joanna explained that Poland was once ruled by a communist regime, so she had an understanding of the persecution in China: “Having lived through that era, for us it is history. But the fact that Chinese people have to face this reality every day is truly heartbreaking.”
