Urgent Appeal to Release the Innocent Teng, Chunyan
Dear Honorable Ambassador:
We, Falun Gong practitioners in Great Washington, DC area gather here today to deliver you our urgent request for your humanitarian support and to send our appeal to the Central Government of China to immediately release the innocent Falun Gong practitioner, Teng Chunyan, and return her to the United States as soon as possible.
The Falun Gong practice teaches people to follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance in conducting our daily life. It has been proven that millions of people have gained health and moral ascension through practicing Falun Gong. Teng Chunyan has always been a decent citizen and a good Falun Gong practitioner by living with her faith in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Her visit to the mental institute in China was legal. She did nothing wrong but exercising a basic citizen's human right. We appeal to the Chinese government to reconsider this persecution and stop any further violation of her human rights.
Jiang Zemin regime's persecution against Falun Gong been met with worldwide opposition from Falun Gong practitioners. Throughout the last year and four months, Falun Gong practitioners have graciously demonstrated their belief in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance to the whole world with their great courage, compassion and tolerance while facing the brutal persecution by Jiang Zemin's regime. Now more and more people have realized what a fatal mistake it was to persecute Falun Gong and began to refuse to participate in this crime. The persecution of Teng Chunyan will severely affect the American government and people's trust in the sincerity of China's willingness to improve the human rights condition in China. Furthermore, this will affect the relationship between the United States and China, and undermine the reputation of China in the international community. This is not what we would like to see. We sincerely hope the leaders in the Chinese government will wake up soon and courageously correct the mistake that has been made, and release all the jailed Falun Gong practitioners.
