(Clearwisdom.net) Dalian city practitioner Li Xiumei, female, 58-years-old, died as a result of torture on the morning of December 16, 2001. Li Xiumei was illegally detained in theYaojia Detention Center in Dalian city. To protest the persecution she went on a hunger strike. She was hospitalized when she was at the edge of death. She died after a failed medical emergency rescue.

Totalitarian governments cannot bear a rival loyalty in civil society, even if the rival is a system of meditation and exercise. Falun Dafa is such a system with the mottos: Truth, Compassion and Forbearance. I am impressed by the sincerity of its practitioners. I am disturbed by the dreadful treatment of its practitioners by the ruling party of the People's Republic of China.
On December 19, 2001, New York State Assemblyman Jacob E. Gunther, III issued a citation to Mr. Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa, for his outstanding contribution to the whole society. During the celebration ceremony of Orange County Falun Dafa Week, the representative of Mr. Gunther issued the citation.
