BEIJING (AP) - Chinese police said Thursday they detained more than 40 foreign members of the outlawed Falun Gong [...] group who demonstrated on Beijing's central Tiananmen Square.

BEIJING, China -- Chinese authorities have detained about 40 Western members of the banned Falun Gong spiritual movement after a brief protest in Beijing's Tiananmen Square.
Witnesses said the demonstrators threw the square into chaos for about 15 minutes as they unfurled a yellow banner and shouted slogans "Falun Gong is good!"

Police have detained about 40 Western members of the Falun Gong group after they protested in Tiananmen Square against a crackdown on their faith, state media said.
A Falun Gong spokeswoman in New York said the demonstration was to highlight China's persecution of the movement ahead of a visit to Beijing by US President Mr George W. Bush in a week.
