Citing effective pressure from overseas government and activists, Canadian residents report that the sister of a Toronto woman has been released from a Chinese labour camp where she was held for practicing Falun Gong.
Yanxia Wu heard of her sister's release at 8pm on September 7th. She said, "When I first heard her voice, I was very emotional. I thank the Canadian government and Canadian people for all their efforts. Their support has made all the difference."

On the afternoon of August 21, 2002, Beijing Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Chan and his fellow practitioner Yu Luping were both captured at the Liangshan County Bus Station in Shandong Province by Jining Police officer Guo Hongtao and his accomplices. They were severely tortured in the detention center. Sometime between August 21 and 29, Wang Chan was tortured to death during interrogation in the detention center.
(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Dou Hejun from Wei County, Hebei Province was kidnapped in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province at the end of 2000. He was sent to the Wei County Detention Center to be detained. Later, he was transferred to a different location where he died of torture just several months later. The details of his death are yet to be investigated.
