(Clearwisdom.net) On June 28, 2004, the Central News Agency reported on the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. On June 26, Falun Gong practitioners on the US West Coast gathered on Santa Monica Beach and held an anti-torture exhibition to expose the brutal torture of Falun Gong practitioners in China.
Falun Gong practitioners pointed out that during the past five years of Jiang Zemin's persecution against Falun Gong practitioners, more than one hundred torture methods have been used. Methods include brutal beatings, water dungeons, thrusting bamboo sticks under the fingernails, burning, force-feeding and use of electric shock batons.
Over one hundred Falun Gong practitioners gathered on Santa Monica Beach to raise public awareness about Jiang's group's cruel persecution and to gain support to help release practitioners being imprisoned in China.
Los Angeles Falun Gong spokesperson Michael Yeh said that there are at least 992 documented cases of Falun Gong practitioners being tortured to death in China.
Michael Yeh pointed out that Mr. Theo van Boven, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture, was scheduled to visit China's jails and labor camps. However, he has not been able to make the trip due to obstruction on the part of the ruling party in China.
In order to stop the persecution of Falun Gong, Falun Gong practitioners in over twenty countries around the world have filed lawsuits charging Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan and other Chinese leaders for crimes against humanity.
